Communication apparatus, communication method, and storage medium

Abstract

Network slice information indicating a characteristic of a wireless network to be provided by a base station is acquired, and whether the base station provides a predetermined network slice is determined based on the acquired network slice information. If a determination that the base station does not provide the predetermined network slice is made, connection processing for connection between a communication apparatus and the base station is canceled, or connection between the communication apparatus and the base station is disconnected.

1 . A communication apparatus comprising:
 at least one memory that stores a set of instructions; and   at least one processor that executes the instructions, the instructions, when executed, causing the communication apparatus to perform operations comprising:   acquiring network slice information indicating a characteristic of a wireless network to be provided by a base station before establishing a connection with the base station; and   determining whether to connect to the base station based on the acquired network slice information.   
     
     
         2 . The communication apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise determining, before establishing a connection with the base station, whether a predetermined network slice is to be provided if the connection with the base station is established, based on the acquired network slice information. 
     
     
         3 . The communication apparatus according to  claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise controlling, in a case where it is determined that, if the connection with the base station is established, the predetermined network slice is to be provided, control to connect to the base station is performed, and in a case where it is determined that, if the connection with the base station is established, the predetermined network slice is not to be provided, control so as not to connect to the base station is performed. 
     
     
         4 . The communication apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise detecting other base stations near the communication apparatus. 
     
     
         5 . The communication apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the operations further comprise:
 identifying a type of network slice to be used for an application being executed, and 
 controlling a process of determining whether to connect to the base station is performed based on the acquired network slice information and the identified type, and control to connect to the base station or control so as not to connect to the base station is performed based on a result of the process of the determining.

The communication apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the communication apparatus having been connected to the base station performs a wireless communication compliant with a communication standard specified by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project, with the base station. 
     
     
         7 . The communication apparatus according to  claim 6 , wherein the wireless communication is a cellular communication compliant with the fifth-generation technology standard. 
     
     
         8 . The communication apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the communication apparatus is wired to a functional module, and   wherein the operations further comprise receiving or transmitting data for the functional module via the wired communication.   
     
     
         9 . The communication apparatus according to  claim 8 , wherein the functional module is a camera, and
 wherein the operations further comprise transmitting, in a case where a connection with the base station is established, imaging data which is obtained from the camera to the base station.   
     
     
         10 . A communication method comprising:
 acquiring network slice information indicating a characteristic of a wireless network to be provided by a base station before establishing a connection with the base station; and   determining whether to connect to the base station based on the acquired network slice information.   
     
     
         11 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores a program for causing a communication apparatus to execute:
 acquiring network slice information indicating a characteristic of a wireless network to be provided by a base station before establishing a connection with the base station; and   determining whether to connect to the base station based on the acquired network slice information.
