Medical characterization system
Abstract
A medical characterization system is configured to input medical-related continuous parameters and discrete data so as to calculate a characterization timeline indicative of a physiological condition of a living being. A data source is in sensor communications with a patient so as to generate a continuous parameter. The data source also provides test data responsive to the patient at a test time. The test data is available to a characterization processor at a result time. The characterization processor is also responsive to the continuous parameter so as to generate a medical characterization as a function of time. A characterization analyzer enables the characterization processor to update the medical characterization in view of the test data as of the test time.

17 . A method of updating a display of a patient monitor, the method comprising:
generating a plurality of health indices over a time period based on risks associated with non-invasive continuous sensor based measurements corresponding to a patient; displaying the plurality of health indices over the time period on a display; generating an indication that a result of a discrete test that was performed on the patient during the time period is available; responsive to a selection by the care provider of the indication, synchronizing the plurality health indices with the result of the discrete test based on an application of a model selected according to a type of the test performed; and updating the display to modify historical values of the plurality of health indices based on the synchronization.
18 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising allowing a user to dynamically include or exclude a plurality of parameters from the generation of the plurality of health indices and updating the health index based on the user selection.
19 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising identifying an increase in risk to a health of the patient based on the synchronization and providing treatment based on the identification.
20 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the test is a blood draw to measure hemoglobin and the model includes a step change in risk at a first time of the test based on the result indicating low hemoglobin.
21 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the model accounts for aging in risk between a first time when the test was taken and a second time when the result is available.
22 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the model includes a ramp up in risk from a first time of the test based on the result indicating hematocrit is decreasing.
23 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the displaying further comprises displaying a plurality of markers for tests.
24 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the plurality of parameters comprise real-time and non-real-time parameters.
25 . A system for updating a display of a patient monitor, the system comprising one or more hardware processors configured to:
generate a plurality of health indices over a time period based on risks associated with non-invasive continuous sensor based measurements corresponding to a patient; display the plurality of health indices over the time period on a display; receive a result of a discrete test that was performed on the patient during the time period is available; synchronize the plurality health indices with the result of the discrete test based on an application of a model selected according to a type of the test performed; and update the display to modify historical values of the plurality of health indices based on the synchronization.
26 . The system of claim 25 , wherein the one or more hardware processors are further configured to allow a user to dynamically include or exclude a plurality of parameters from the generation of the plurality of health indices and updating the health index based on the user selection.
27 . The system of claim 25 , wherein the one or more hardware processors are further configured to identify an increase in risk to a health of the patient based on the synchronization and providing treatment based on the identification.
28 . The system of claim 25 , wherein the test is a blood draw to measure hemoglobin and the model includes a step change in risk at a first time of the test based on the result indicating low hemoglobin.
