Abstract
The technologies described herein are generally directed to facilitating the allocation, scheduling, and management of network slice resources. According some embodiments, a system can comprise a processor and a memory that can store executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations. The operations can include identifying a slice configuration of a network slice that was allocated to a user device, the slice configuration being based on a characteristic of the user device, wherein a capacity of a resource of a network device of a network was previously assigned to support the network slice based on the slice configuration. The operations can further include monitoring usage of the network slice by the user device during the usage of the network slice, resulting in monitored usage of the network slice. Further, based on and during the monitored usage of the network slice, operations can include facilitating modifying the capacity of the resource assigned to support the network slice.

1 . A method, comprising:
analyzing, by first network equipment comprising a processor, a resource of second network equipment assigned to support a network slice, resulting in a discovered slice configuration applicable to the network slice, wherein the discovered slice configuration was allocated to a user equipment based on a characteristic of the user equipment and a network service to be used by the user equipment using the discovered slice configuration, and wherein a capacity of the resource was previously assigned to support the network slice based on the discovered slice configuration; based on the discovered slice configuration, monitoring, by the first network equipment, usage of the resource by the network slice based on activity of the user equipment during the usage of the network slice, resulting in monitored usage of the network slice; based on the monitored usage, identifying, by the first network equipment, a change in the capacity of the resource to maintain support of the network service at a threshold quality of service, resulting in an identified change; and based on the identified change, modifying, by the first network equipment, the capacity of the resource assigned to support the network slice.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource comprises a backhaul link to an edge network resource that supports operation of the network slice.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising, based on and during the monitored usage of the network slice, predicting, by the first network equipment, a future capacity associated with the resource to support the network slice, and wherein modifying the capacity of the resource assigned to support the network slice is further based on the future capacity associated with the resource.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein modifying the capacity of the resource is further based on historical information regarding usage of the user equipment obtained from a data store.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the historical information further comprises historical information regarding other usage of other user equipment determined to be similar to the user equipment based on a defined similarity criterion.
6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the data store comprises an artificial neural network of historical information associated with the second network equipment.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the artificial neural network was generated based on a process comprising:
training the artificial neural network based on a first portion of historical information associated with the second network equipment; and updating the artificial neural network based on a second portion of historical information associated with the second network equipment.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the discovered slice configuration comprises a service level agreement specifying a guideline for the capacity of the resource to be assigned to support the network slice.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the discovered slice configuration was further based on an enhanced mobile broadband network profile.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the discovered slice configuration was further based on an ultra-reliable low latency communications profile.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the discovered slice configuration was further based on a massive machine to machine communications profile.
12 . A user device, comprising:
a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
receiving an allocation of a network slice that was previously assigned by an assigning device, wherein a first capacity of a resource of the network supports the network slice providing a network service,
based on the allocation, using the network slice for operation of the user device, and
exceeding, by the user device during the using of the network slice, the first capacity of the resource of the network, wherein exceeding the first capacity was enabled during the using of the network slice for the user device prior to the exceeding, based on monitoring the network service provided to the user device.
13 . The user device of claim 12 , wherein the network slice was selected for the allocation based on a slice configuration discovered by the assigning device.
14 . The user device of claim 12 , wherein a first backhaul connection facilitates provision of the network service to an edge device supporting the network slice, and wherein exceeding the first capacity was enabled based on the first backhaul connection having been switched to a second backhaul connection that is different than the first backhaul connection.
15 . The user device of claim 12 , wherein exceeding the first capacity was enabled for the user device prior to the exceeding based on the first capacity of the resource of the network having been modified, as a result of the monitoring, to a second capacity of the resource of the network, and wherein the second capacity is greater than the first capacity of the resource of the network.
16 . The user device of claim 12 , wherein enablement of the exceeding of the first capacity of the resource of the network prior to the exceeding was further based on a prediction of future usage, by the user device, of the resource of the network.
17 . The user device of claim 12 , wherein enablement of the exceeding of the first capacity of the resource of the network prior to the exceeding was further based on historical information associated with usage of the user device obtained from a data store.
18 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor of a user equipment, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
receiving an allocation of a network slice that was previously assigned by assigning equipment of a network, wherein a first capacity of a resource supports the network slice providing a network service via the network, wherein the network slice was selected for allocation based on a slice configuration discovered by the assigning equipment, applying the allocation of the network slice to the user equipment for operation of the user equipment, and exceeding the first capacity of the resource of the network, wherein exceeding the first capacity was authorized during the using of the network slice for the user equipment prior to the exceeding, based on monitoring the network service provided to the user equipment.

The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein a first backhaul connection facilitates the network service being provided to edge equipment supporting the network slice, and wherein exceeding the first capacity was enabled based on the first backhaul connection having been switched to a second backhaul connection that is different than the first backhaul connection.
20 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein exceeding the first capacity was enabled for the user equipment prior to the exceeding based on the first capacity of the resource of the network having been modified to a second capacity of the resource of the network as a result of the monitoring, and wherein the second capacity is greater than the first capacity of the resource of the network.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
