Abstract

A drug delivery device that includes a housing. The housing contains a syringe, and the syringe includes a container containing a liquid medicament. The container includes an aperture at a distal end and through which the liquid medicament can be dispensed. The syringe includes a stopper within the container. The stopper is moveable between a first longitudinal position and a second longitudinal position relative to the container, to cause dispensing of the liquid medicament through the aperture. The syringe includes at least one identifying means identifying the liquid medicament.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A drug delivery device comprising:
a housing comprising a window; and a syringe contained in the housing, the syringe comprising:
 a container containing a liquid medicament, the container comprising an aperture at a distal end thereof and through which the liquid medicament can be dispensed;
a stopper within the container, the stopper moveable between a first longitudinal position and a second longitudinal position relative to the container to cause dispensing of the liquid medicament through the aperture; and
at least one identifier identifying the liquid medicament, the at least one identifier being visible through the window.

2 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier is arranged at a distal end of the syringe.

3 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the syringe further comprises a needle shield comprising a hole through which the liquid medicament is to be dispensed, and the at least one identifier is arranged on an outer surface of the needle shield.

4 . The drug delivery device of claim 3 , wherein the outer surface of the needle shield comprises a front face, the hole is arranged on the front face, and the at least one identifier is arranged on the front face.

5 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier comprises a printed surface.

6 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier comprises a laser marked surface.

7 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier comprises a pin mounted on the needle shield.

8 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier is not visible to a naked eye of a human.

9 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier has been printed using UV light.

10 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier comprises a QR code.

11 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier comprises a barcode.

12 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identifier comprises a ring arranged around an outer surface of the container.

13 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the stopper comprises the at least one identifier.

14 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the container comprises the at least one identifier.

         15 . A method comprising:
disposing a syringe in a housing of a drug delivery device, the syringe comprising a container containing a liquid medicament, the container comprising an aperture at a distal end thereof and through which the liquid medicament can be dispensed, and a stopper within the container, the stopper moveable between a first longitudinal position and a second longitudinal position relative to the container to cause dispensing of the liquid medicament through the aperture, the syringe comprising at least one identifier identifying the liquid medicament contained in the container such that the at least one identifier is visible through a window of the housing.

16 . A method for identifying a liquid medicament contained within a drug delivery device, the method comprising:
detecting, by a sensor, at least one identifier on a syringe contained in a housing of the drug delivery device through a window of the housing; and in response to detecting the at least one identifier, identifying the liquid medicament based on the detected at least one identifier.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein identifying the liquid medicament based on the detected at least one identifier comprises:
comparing the detected at least one identifier with a database, the database storing one or more identities of liquid medicaments; and determining that there is a match between the detected at least one identifier and one of the one or more identities of liquid medicaments stored in the database.

18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the at least one identifier comprises a printed surface.

19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the at least one identifier comprises a laser marked surface.

20 . The method of claim 16 , wherein a container of the syringe comprises the at least one identifier.
