Abstract

A first station in a first multi-link device generates a frame, wherein the frame indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams supported by the first multi-link device. The first station sends the frame. A throughput of a station in a multi-link device is improved by enabling a station to use more spatial streams.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A data transmission method, wherein the method comprises:
 generating, by a first station in a first multi-link device, an eleventh frame, wherein the eleventh frame indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams supported by the first multi-link device; and   sending, by the first station, the eleventh frame.   
     
     
         2 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the eleventh frame indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams supported by the first multi-link device for each modulation and coding scheme MCS. 
     
     
         3 . The method according to  claim 2 , wherein the eleventh frame comprises a fifth field, and the fifth field indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams for receiving supported by the first multi-link device for each MCS. 
     
     
         4 . The method according to  claim 3 , wherein the fifth field is carried in a Supported EHT MCS and NSS Set field of the eleventh frame. 
     
     
         5 . The method according to  claim 2 , wherein the eleventh frame comprises a sixth field, and the sixth field indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams for transmitting supported by the first multi-link device for each MCS. 
     
     
         6 . The method according to  claim 5 , wherein the sixth field is carried in a Supported EHT MCS and NSS Set field of the eleventh frame. 
     
     
         7 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the eleventh frame comprises a shared station field, and the shared station field indicates a plurality of stations participating in a shared spatial stream. 
     
     
         8 . The method according to  claim 7 , wherein the shared station field comprises a plurality of link identifier fields. 
     
     
         9 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the eleventh frame further indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams supported by each station in the first multi-link device. 
     
     
         10 . The method according to  claim 9 , wherein the eleventh frame comprises an eighth field, and the eighth field comprises a field of a quantity of spatial streams for receiving, a field of a quantity of spatial streams for transmitting, and a link identifier field. 
     
     
         11 . An apparatus, comprising:
 a memory storing program instructions; and   at least one processor coupled to the memory, wherein the program instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to:   generate an eleventh frame, wherein the eleventh frame indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams supported by a first multi-link device; and   send the eleventh frame.   
     
     
         12 . The apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the eleventh frame indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams supported by the first multi-link device for each modulation and coding scheme (MCS). 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus according to  claim 12 , wherein the eleventh frame comprises a fifth field, and the fifth field indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams for receiving supported by the first multi-link device for each MCS. 
     
     
         14 . The apparatus according to  claim 13 , wherein the fifth field is carried in a Supported EHT MCS and NSS Set field of the eleventh frame. 
     
     
         15 . The apparatus according to  claim 2 , wherein the eleventh frame comprises a sixth field, and the sixth field indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams for transmitting supported by the first multi-link device for each MCS. 
     
     
         16 . The method according to  claim 15 , wherein the sixth field is carried in a Supported EHT MCS and NSS Set field of the eleventh frame. 
     
     
         17 . The apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the eleventh frame comprises a shared station field, and the shared station field indicates a plurality of stations participating in a shared spatial stream. 
     
     
         18 . The apparatus according to  claim 17 , wherein the shared station field comprises a plurality of link identifier fields. 
     
     
         19 . The apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the eleventh frame further indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams supported by each station in the first multi-link device. 
     
     
         20 . A computer-readable storage medium, wherein the computer-readable storage medium comprises computer instructions, and when the computer instructions are run on a computer, the computer is enabled to:
 generate an eleventh frame, wherein the eleventh frame indicates a maximum quantity of shared spatial streams supported by a first multi-link device; and   send the eleventh frame.
