Methods and apparatus to associate transactions with media impressions
Abstract
Methods and apparatus to associate transactions with media impressions are disclosed. An example apparatus includes instructions to receive, at a merchant database proprietor, a first request from a computing device to access a first account, the first account corresponding to a first transaction performed with the merchant database proprietor, the first request including a first identifier associated with the computing device, the first identifier set at the computing device by an entity different than the merchant database proprietor, based on a second request including the first identifier, identify a second transaction involving the merchant database proprietor, the second transaction conducted using the first account, and provide a product identifier included in the second transaction to an audience measurement entity.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system, comprising:
at least one memory; programmable circuitry; and instructions to program the programmable circuitry to:
receive, at a merchant database proprietor, a first request from a computing device to access a first account, the first account corresponding to a first transaction performed with the merchant database proprietor, the first request including a first identifier associated with the computing device, the first identifier set at the computing device by an entity different than the merchant database proprietor;
based on a second request including the first identifier, identify a second transaction involving the merchant database proprietor, the second transaction conducted using the first account; and
provide a product identifier included in the second transaction to an audience measurement entity.
2 . A system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the second request includes the product identifier, the programmable circuitry to identify the second transaction based on the product identifier.
3 . A system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the programmable circuitry is to determine whether the first identifier is associated with any accounts in an account database and to associate the first identifier with the first account when the first identifier is not associated with any accounts in the account database.
4 . A system as defined in claim 3 , wherein the programmable circuitry is to:
authenticate the first request; and determine whether the first identifier is associated with any accounts after the first request is authenticated.
5 . A system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the programmable circuitry is to:
identify a third transaction after a third request, the third request including the product identifier; identify a second account used to perform the third transaction; determine whether the second account is associated with a second identifier associated with a second computing device; and provide the second identifier to the audience measurement entity after determining that the second account is associated with the second identifier.
6 . A system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the programmable circuitry is to provide a time and a date at which the second transaction occurred to the audience measurement entity with the product identifier.
7 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising computer readable instructions to cause logic circuitry to at least:
receive, at a merchant database proprietor, a first request from a computing device to access a first account, the first account corresponding to a first transaction performed with the merchant database proprietor, the first request including a first identifier associated with the computing device, the first identifier set at the computing device by an entity different than the merchant database proprietor; based on a second request including the first identifier, identify a second transaction involving the merchant database proprietor, the second transaction conducted using the first account; and provide a product identifier included in the second transaction to an audience measurement entity.
8 . A storage medium as defined in claim 7 , wherein the second request includes the product identifier, the instructions to cause the logic circuitry to identify the second transaction based on the product identifier.
9 . A storage medium as defined in claim 7 , wherein the instructions are to cause the logic circuitry to:
determine whether the first identifier is associated with any accounts in an account database; and associate the first identifier with the first account after determining that the first identifier is not associated with any accounts in the account database.
10 . A storage medium as defined in claim 9 , wherein the instructions are to cause the logic circuitry to:
authenticate the first request; and determine whether the first identifier is associated with any accounts after the first request is authenticated.
11 . A storage medium as defined in claim 7 , wherein the instructions are to cause the logic circuitry to:
identify a third transaction after a third request, the third request including the product identifier; identify a second account used to perform the third transaction; determine whether the second account is associated with a second identifier associated with a second computing device; and provide the second identifier to the audience measurement entity after determining that the second account is associated with the second identifier.
12 . A storage medium as defined in claim 7 , wherein the instructions are to cause the logic circuitry to provide a time and a date at which the second transaction occurred to the audience measurement entity with the product identifier.
13 . A storage medium as defined in claim 7 , wherein the second transaction includes an online transaction to purchase a product associated with the product identifier.
14 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
receiving, by executing an instruction with programmable circuitry, at a merchant database proprietor, a first request from a computing device to access a first account, the first account corresponding to a first transaction performed with the merchant database proprietor, the first request including a first identifier associated with the computing device, the first identifier set at the computing device by an entity different than the merchant database proprietor; based on a second request including the first identifier, identifying, by executing an instruction with the programmable circuitry, a second transaction involving the merchant database proprietor, the second transaction conducted using the first account; and providing, by executing an instruction with the programmable circuitry, a product identifier included in the second transaction to an audience measurement entity.
15 . A method as defined in claim 14 , wherein the second request includes the product identifier, the method further including identifying the second transaction is based on the product identifier.
16 . A method as defined in claim 14 , further including:
determining whether the first identifier is associated with any accounts in an account database; and associating the first identifier with the first account after determining that the first identifier is not associated with any accounts in the account database.
17 . A method as defined in claim 16 , further including authenticating the first request, the determining of whether the first identifier is associated with any accounts being performed after the first request is authenticated.
18 . A method as defined in claim 14 , wherein the first identifier is an Identifier for Advertising (IDFA) assigned to the computing device.
19 . A method as defined in claim 14 , further including:
identifying a third transaction after a third request, the third request including the product identifier; identifying a second account used to perform the third transaction; determining whether the second account is associated with a second identifier associated with a second computing device; and after determining that the second account is associated with the second identifier, providing the second identifier to the audience measurement entity.
20 . A method as defined in claim 14 , further including providing a time and a date at which the second transaction occurred to the audience measurement entity with the product identifier.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
