Firearm barrel having a cartridge chamber
Abstract
The present invention provides a barrel of a firearm, comprising: a barrel bore being defined within said barrel; a cartridge chamber being defined within said barrel from a head face to said barrel bore, said cartridge chamber having a generally tapered internal body wall surface; a cartridge case shoulder support surface; wherein the cartridge case shoulder support surface has a shoulder taper angle of about 30 degrees; and a shoulder transition connecting the cartridge case shoulder support surface to a throat in communication with the barrel bore, wherein the shoulder transition has a radius of circular curve convex segment 138 and a radius of circular curve concave segment 140.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 13 . (canceled)
14 . A barrel of a firearm, comprising:
a bore defined through the barrel and in communication with a cartridge chamber, the cartridge chamber extending from a head face to a proximal end of the bore and configured to receive an ammunition cartridge, wherein the cartridge chamber comprises: an internal wall surface tapering from the head face to the proximal end of the bore; and a concave shoulder support surface immediately adjacent to and directly opening into the proximal end of the bore, wherein the bore has a diameter configured to substantially match a diameter of a projectile for the ammunition cartridge to be fired through the barrel.
15 . The barrel of claim 14 , wherein the cartridge chamber has an axial length from the head face to the proximal end of the bore between 1.800-2.225 inches.
16 . The barrel of claim 14 , wherein the concave shoulder support surface has an internal diameter between 0.118-0.518 inches.
17 . The barrel of claim 14 , wherein the head face has an internal diameter between 0.2718-0.6718 inches.
18 . The barrel of claim 14 , wherein the bore has an internal diameter between 0.0700-0.4700 inches.
19 . The barrel of claim 14 , wherein the concave shoulder support surface has an angle between 27 and 33 degrees.
20 . The barrel of claim 14 , wherein the cartridge chamber is configured to receive an ammunition cartridge having an axial length between 2.485 to 3.01 inches.
21 . The barrel of claim 14 , wherein the concave shoulder support surface is configured to substantially correspond to a shoulder profile of the ammunition cartridge.
22 . A firearm comprising the barrel of claim 1 , wherein the firearm further comprises:
a receiver mechanism having a trigger, a loading mechanism and a firing mechanism, wherein the barrel is mounted to the receiver mechanism.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
