Abstract
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for implementing a self-contained cosmetic applicator kit are described herein. For example, according to one embodiment there is a cosmetic applicator kit including: a body, in which the body includes: a reservoir portion, in which the reservoir portion is to receive cosmetic material to be applied; an applicator storage recess to receive an applicator cap over a topmost end to seal the applicator storage recess; in which the applicator storage recess is to further receive an applicator comprising an applicator brush-head and an applicator body, in which the applicator brush-head is to receive the cosmetic material to be applied; a cosmetic material transfer compartment (“compartment”) to receive the cosmetic material to be applied, in which the compartment is to receive the applicator brush-head for transfer of the cosmetic material to be applied; a side door adjacent to the cosmetic material transfer compartment, in which the side door opens to provide access to the cosmetic material transfer compartment; a valve portion between the reservoir portion and the cosmetic material transfer compartment; and a pump having a top portion above the reservoir portion, in which the top portion of the pump activates to transport the cosmetic material from the reservoir portion into the cosmetic material transfer compartment through the valve portion; and a pump cap to seal over the pump. Claims

a body, wherein the body includes:
a storage recess formed into the body of the cosmetic applicator kit having two compartments, a first compartment forming a cosmetic storage recess and a second compartment forming an applicator storage recess;
a cosmetic storage reservoir positioned within the first compartment of the storage recess, wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is to receive cosmetic material to be applied to a recipient;
an actuator having a top portion above the cosmetic storage reservoir, wherein the top portion of the actuator initiates transport of the cosmetic material from the cosmetic storage reservoir through a valve and into a cosmetic material transfer compartment; and
an actuator cap positioned over a topmost end of the first compartment of the storage recess to seal the cosmetic storage reservoir within the first compartment of the storage recess forming the cosmetic storage recess;
a cosmetic applicator comprised of an applicator brush-head, an applicator body, and an applicator cap, wherein the applicator brush-head is to receive the cosmetic material to be applied to the recipient;
wherein the applicator cap is configurable to be positioned over a topmost end of the second compartment of the storage recess to seal the cosmetic applicator within the second compartment of the storage recess forming the applicator storage recess;
wherein the cosmetic applicator is configurable to be stored within the applicator storage recess and sealed within the cosmetic applicator kit by the applicator cap and wherein the cosmetic applicator is further configurable to be removed from the applicator storage recess via the applicator cap when in use;
wherein the cosmetic material transfer compartment is configurable to receive the cosmetic material from the cosmetic storage reservoir positioned within the cosmetic storage recess via the valve connected with the cosmetic storage reservoir;
wherein the cosmetic material transfer compartment is further configurable to receive the applicator brush-head of the cosmetic applicator to transfer a portion of the cosmetic material from the cosmetic storage reservoir to the applicator brush-head via the valve; and
a side door adjacent to the cosmetic material transfer compartment, wherein the side door is configurable to open to provide access to the cosmetic material transfer compartment and is further configurable to close to seal the cosmetic material transfer compartment.

The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , wherein the actuator comprises a plunger activated via a twist motion to induce a mechanical pushing force into the cosmetic storage reservoir to squeeze or press the cosmetic material out of the cosmetic storage reservoir and into the cosmetic material transfer compartment through the valve.

The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , wherein the actuator comprises a pump activated via a pressing action to depress a pump actuator into a pump body to induce a pressure increase into the cosmetic storage reservoir to force the cosmetic material out of the cosmetic storage reservoir and into the cosmetic material transfer compartment through the valve based on a pressure gradient between the cosmetic storage reservoir and the valve.
4 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , wherein the valve comprises a one-way valve permitting the cosmetic material to egress from the cosmetic storage reservoir and into the cosmetic material transfer compartment but prohibits the ingress of air into the cosmetic storage reservoir or the return of the cosmetic material previously egressed back into the cosmetic storage reservoir.

The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , wherein the one-way valve mitigates risk of cross-contamination into the cosmetic material within the cosmetic storage reservoir, prevents uncontrolled dispersion of the cosmetic material, and prevents oxidation of the cosmetic material which remains within the cosmetic storage reservoir.

The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , further comprising an orifice affixed to the cosmetic material transfer compartment which at least partially seals the cosmetic material transfer compartment and permits insertion and removal of the brush-head of the cosmetic applicator from the cosmetic material transfer compartment.
7 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , wherein the applicator brush-head is to receive the cosmetic material to be applied comprises:
removing the actuator cap over the top portion of the body of the cosmetic applicator kit to expose the actuator; removing the applicator cap at the top portion of the body of the kit to expose the applicator storage recess within the second compartment forming the applicator storage recess in the body of the cosmetic applicator kit housing the cosmetic applicator; removing the cosmetic applicator from the applicator storage recess; opening the side door of the body of the cosmetic applicator kit to expose the cosmetic material transfer compartment; inserting the applicator brush-head into the cosmetic material transfer compartment to receive the cosmetic material to be applied to a recipient; activating the actuator to express a portion of the cosmetic material from the cosmetic storage reservoir through the valve into the cosmetic material transfer compartment and onto the applicator brush-head when the applicator is inserted into in the cosmetic material transfer compartment; removing the applicator brush-head from the cosmetic material transfer compartment with the cosmetic material received upon the applicator brush-head; and transferring the cosmetic material from the applicator brush-head onto a target region of a face or body of a recipient to which the cosmetic material is to be applied.
8 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 :
wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is located on the leftmost lateral side of the applicator kit; wherein the applicator storage recess is located to the right of the reservoir portion; wherein the cosmetic material transfer compartment is located below both the cosmetic storage reservoir within the cosmetic storage recess and the applicator storage recess; wherein right and left lateral edges of the side door rest in channels within right and left lateral walls of the body of the applicator kit; wherein the side door moves up and down within the channels; wherein the side door spans lateral to the applicator storage recess and the cosmetic material transfer compartment when closed.
9 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir receives the cosmetic material to be applied via one or more of the following:
(i) receiving the cosmetic material to be applied directly into the reservoir portion; (ii) receiving a container in the cosmetic storage reservoir pre-filled with the cosmetic material to be applied to the recipient; (iii) receiving an empty container in the cosmetic storage reservoir to receive the cosmetic material to be applied to the recipient; (iv) wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is manufactured as a sealed unit which is not serviceable by an end user and is not configured to be opened by an end user without damage to the cosmetic storage reservoir; (v) wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is manufactured as a sealed unit which includes the actuator but does not include the valve; (vi) wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is manufactured as a sealed unit which includes the valve but does not include the actuator; (vii) wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is manufactured as a sealed unit which includes the valve and also includes the actuator; (viii) wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is manufactured as a re-sealable unit which includes the cosmetic material from the manufacturer and is also re-fillable by an end user; and (ix) wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is manufactured within the cosmetic applicator kit as a single-use item in which the cosmetic storage reservoir of the cosmetic applicator kit is non-replaceable or re-fillable by an end user.
10 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , wherein the actuator creates a channel through which the cosmetic material to be applied traverses from the cosmetic storage reservoir and into the cosmetic material transfer compartment, wherein the actuator is comprised of a one-way valve preventing backflow from the receiving compartment portion to the reservoir portion.
11 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 further includes at least one of the following:
a free-standing design configured to permit the cosmetic applicator kit to stand upon a posterior end of the body which is wider than an anterior end of the body;
an ergonomically contoured design of the body of the cosmetic applicator kit;
a liquid compatible cosmetic storage reservoir configured to dispense the liquid as the cosmetic material;
a semi-liquid compatible cosmetic storage reservoir configured to dispense the semi-liquid as the cosmetic material;
a malleable semi-solid compatible cosmetic storage reservoir configured to dispense the malleable semi-solid as the cosmetic material;
a medicinal compound compatible cosmetic storage reservoir configured to dispense the medicinal compound as the cosmetic material; and
a therapeutic preparation compatible cosmetic storage reservoir configured to dispense the therapeutic preparation as the cosmetic material.
12 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 :
wherein the cosmetic material to be applied is manufactured for single use via:
inserting the cosmetic material into the cosmetic storage reservoir;
sealing the cosmetic storage reservoir;
inserting the cosmetic storage reservoir into the cosmetic storage recess of the body of the cosmetic applicator kit; and
permanently sealing the cosmetic storage reservoir within the cosmetic storage recess of the body of the cosmetic applicator kit.
13 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 :
wherein the cosmetic applicator kit is manufactured with the first compartment configured as a cosmetic storage recess capable of holding a plurality of cosmetic storage reservoirs, each having different types of cosmetic materials to be applied to the recipient.
14 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 :
wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir, actuator, valve, cosmetic material transfer compartment, and the body of the cosmetic applicator kit are formed as separate components and attached together; or alternatively wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir, actuator, valve, cosmetic material transfer compartment, and the body of the cosmetic applicator kit are formed as a single continuous component formed from a single mold.
15 . The cosmetic applicator kit of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the: (i) applicator, (ii) applicator storage recess, and (iii) cosmetic material transfer compartment are configurable to be accessible to an end user for cleaning after use of the cosmetic applicator kit.
16 . A method of using a cosmetic applicator kit, wherein the method comprises:
removing an actuator cap at a top portion of a body of a cosmetic applicator kit to expose a cosmetic material release actuator; removing a cosmetic applicator cap at the top portion of the body of the cosmetic applicator kit to expose an applicator storage recess formed with the body of the cosmetic applicator kit housing therein a cosmetic applicator; removing the cosmetic applicator from the applicator storage recess; opening a side door of the body of the cosmetic applicator kit to expose a cosmetic material transfer compartment; inserting an applicator brush-head formed into one end of the cosmetic applicator into the cosmetic material transfer compartment to receive the cosmetic material to be applied to a recipient; activating the cosmetic material release actuator to release the cosmetic material from the cosmetic storage reservoir through a valve into the cosmetic material transfer compartment and onto the applicator brush-head having been inserted in the cosmetic material transfer compartment; removing the applicator brush-head from the cosmetic material transfer compartment with the cosmetic material expressed from the valve onto the applicator brush-head; and transferring the cosmetic material from the applicator brush-head to a target region of a face or body of a recipient; wherein the cosmetic applicator kit comprises: a body, wherein the body includes:
a storage recess formed into the body of the cosmetic applicator kit having two compartments, a first compartment forming a cosmetic storage recess and a second compartment forming an applicator storage recess;
a cosmetic storage reservoir positioned within the first compartment of the storage recess, wherein the cosmetic storage reservoir is to receive cosmetic material to be applied to a recipient;
an actuator having a top portion above the cosmetic storage reservoir, wherein the top portion of the actuator initiates transport of the cosmetic material from the cosmetic storage reservoir through a valve and into a cosmetic material transfer compartment; and
an actuator cap positioned over a topmost end of the first compartment of the storage recess to seal the cosmetic storage reservoir within the first compartment of the storage recess forming the cosmetic storage recess;
a cosmetic applicator comprised of an applicator brush-head, an applicator body, and an applicator cap, wherein the applicator brush-head is to receive the cosmetic material to be applied to the recipient;
wherein the applicator cap is configurable to be positioned over a topmost end of the second compartment of the storage recess to seal the cosmetic applicator within the second compartment of the storage recess forming the applicator storage recess;
wherein the cosmetic applicator is configurable to be stored within the applicator storage recess and sealed within the cosmetic applicator kit by the applicator cap and wherein the cosmetic applicator is further configurable to be removed from the applicator storage recess via the applicator cap when in use;
wherein the cosmetic material transfer compartment is configurable to receive the cosmetic material from the cosmetic storage reservoir positioned within the cosmetic storage recess via the valve connected with the cosmetic storage reservoir;
wherein the cosmetic material transfer compartment is further configurable to receive the applicator brush-head of the cosmetic applicator to transfer a portion of the cosmetic material from the cosmetic storage reservoir to the applicator brush-head via the valve; and
a side door adjacent to the cosmetic material transfer compartment, wherein the side door is configurable to open to provide access to the cosmetic material transfer compartment and is further configurable to close to seal the cosmetic material transfer compartment.
17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising:
cleaning one or more of the following subsequent to use of the cosmetic applicator kit: (i) the cosmetic applicator, (ii) the applicator storage recess, and (iii) the cosmetic material transfer compartment.

The method of claim 16 , wherein the actuator comprises a plunger activated via a twist motion to induce a mechanical pushing force into the cosmetic storage reservoir to squeeze or press the cosmetic material out of the cosmetic storage reservoir and into the cosmetic material transfer compartment through the valve.
19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the actuator comprises a pump activated via a pressing action to depress a pump actuator into a pump body to induce a pressure increase into the cosmetic storage reservoir to force the cosmetic material out of the cosmetic storage reservoir and into the cosmetic material transfer compartment through the valve based on a pressure gradient between the cosmetic storage reservoir and the valve.
20 . The method of claim 16 :
