Abstract
A modular flooring system comprises a modular floor surface and a plurality of stackable, three-dimensional modular interior design components (MIDCs). The modular door surface can comprise an array of discrete, raised, low-profile, receiving panels that can be rectangular in shape. MIDCs can be securely and interchangeably placed on any group of one or more adjacent unoccupied receiving panel and they east also be stackable, such that various different floor layouts can be created. Bach of the MIDCs may comprise a lower surface recess that fits over a group of one or more adjacent raised receiving panels. A first MIDC may have an raised lip on a top surface such that the lower surface recess of a second MIDC fits over, separately and interchangeably, one (or more) of the raised receiving panels and the raised lip on the top surface of the first MIDC. The MIDCs can comprise a storage cube MIDC (square or rectangular cube) as well as specialized MIDCs, such as a commode MIDC, a sink MIDC, a cooler MIDC, and a tile MIDC, etc. In such a manner, a user of the modular flooring system could locate the MIDCs on the floor surface and/or stack them to configure a preferred layout. Moreover, the MIDCs could be rearranged later to design a new layout.

27 . A boat comprising:
a floor surface comprising an array of rectangular floor panels, wherein:
the array comprises multiple columns and multiple rows of the rectangular floor panels;
the floor surface comprises channels between the rectangular floor panels, wherein the channels are at a lower surface of the floor surface relative to upper surfaces of the rectangular floor panels; and
each of the rectangular floor panels comprises a locking aperture; and
a plurality of furniture items, wherein each of the plurality of furniture items is interchangeably and securably connectable to one or more of the rectangular floor panels, such that the plurality of furniture items are arrangeable on the floor surface according to multiple layouts of the floor surface, wherein each furniture item comprises a bottom surface that comprises a locking mechanism to engage, according to one layout, with the locking aperture of a first of the rectangular floor panels and, according to a second layout, with the locking aperture of a second of the rectangular floor panels.
28 . The boat of claim 27 , wherein the locking mechanism of each furniture item comprises a lever connected to a peg that is configured to be inserted into the locking aperture of each floor panel.
29 . The boat of claim 27 , wherein the locking mechanism comprises a cam lock.
30 . The boat of claim 27 , wherein the locking mechanism comprises a spring lock.
31 . The boat of claim 27 , wherein each furniture item further comprises a locking mechanism actuator such that actuation of the actuator may cause the locking mechanism to lock the furniture item to the floor panel.
32 . The boat of claim 27 , wherein at least one of the floor panels of the array further comprises a recess configured to enable an embedded feature to be disposed in the recess, such that a corresponding base of the embedded feature is secured to the recess.
33 . The boat of claim 32 , wherein the embedded feature comprises a table base comprising a post adapter configured to secure a post coupled to a table top.
34 . The boat of claim 32 , wherein the embedded feature comprises a tie down.
35 . The boat of claim 32 , wherein the embedded feature comprises a drainage hole.
36 . The boat of claim 27 , wherein at least one of the plurality of furniture items comprise a furniture item selected from the group consisting of a seat, a bench, a storage container, and a cooler.
37 . The boat of claim 36 , further comprising a plurality of a tiles, wherein each tile is individually interchangeably and securably connectable to one of the rectangular floor panels, and wherein, when connected, each tile covers the upper surface of the rectangular floor panel to which the tile is connected.
38 . The boat of claim 37 , wherein the plurality of furniture items and the floor surface each comprise a water resistant material.
39 . The boat of claim 38 , wherein at least one floor panel of the array comprises a D-ring configured to secure or attach an object to the floor surface.
40 . The boat of claim 39 , wherein at least one furniture item comprises a latch and defines a storage cavity covered by a lid, and wherein the lid is configured to catch the latch to transition the furniture item from an open configuration to a closed configuration.
41 . The boat of claim 40 , wherein the floor surface further comprises a raised perimeter to prevent liquids from flowing through a seam between a payload surface of the boat and the floor surface.
42 . A boat comprising:
a floor surface comprising an array of rectangular floor panels, wherein:
the array comprises multiple columns and multiple rows of the rectangular floor panels;
the floor surface comprises channels between the rectangular floor panels, wherein the channels are at a lower surface of the floor surface relative to upper surfaces of the rectangular floor panels;
the array of rectangular floor panels comprises first and second sets of rectangular floor panels;
the first set of rectangular floor panels comprises at least a first rectangular floor panel of the array of rectangular floor panels;
the first rectangular floor panel comprises a recess configured to enable an embedded feature to be disposed in the recess; and
the second set of rectangular floor panels comprises multiple rectangular floor panels of the array;
a plurality of furniture items, wherein each of the plurality of furniture items is interchangeably and securably connectable to one or more of the rectangular floor panels of the second set of rectangular floor panels, such that the plurality of furniture items are arrangeable on the floor surface according to multiple layouts of the floor surface; and at least one additional furniture item that comprises a post configured to be secured to the embedded feature disposed in the recess of the first rectangular floor panel, such that a bottom surface of the at least one additional furniture item is securable to the first rectangular floor panel via the post and the embedded feature.
43 . The boat of claim 42 , wherein the embedded feature comprises a table base comprising a post adapter, and wherein the at least one additional furniture item comprises a table comprising a table top and a post configured to be secured to the table base.
44 . The boat of claim 42 , wherein at least one of the plurality of furniture items comprises a furniture item selected from the group consisting of a seat, a storage container, a cooler, and a bench.
45 . The boat of claim 43 , wherein each floor panel of the second set of rectangular floor panels comprises a locking aperture, and a subset of the plurality of furniture items comprise a locking mechanism corresponding to the locking apertures of the rectangular floor panels of second set of rectangular floor panels, wherein the locking mechanism is configured to engage the locking aperture such that a bottom surface of each furniture item of the plurality of furniture items can be secured to the upper surface of at least one of the rectangular floor panel of the second set of rectangular floor panels.
46 . The boat of claim 45 , wherein the locking mechanism comprises at least one of a lever, a cam lock, and a spring lock.
47 .
