Abstract
The systems may include dividing a digital map provided by a mapping system into a matrix having a plurality of cells; assigning a cell of the plurality of cells to encompass a geographic region of the digital map; calculating a number of sites of interest in the cell; creating a marker comprising a first count number representing the number of sites of interest in the cell; and sharing the marker with a browser for display on the digital map.

1 . A method comprising:
receiving, by a client computing device, a digital map from a mapping system, wherein the digital map is associated with a plurality of location sites; dividing, by the client computing device, the digital map into a plurality of areas to encompass a geographical region of the digital map; determining, by the client computing device, which location sites associated with the digital map by the mapping system are sites of interest for the client computing device; calculating, by the client computing device, a number of sites of interest in individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map; and displaying, by the client computing device, the digital map with a marker for individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map, wherein the marker indicates a number of sites of interest that are located in a geographic region encompassed by the individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the client computing device, a mapping application programming interface from the mapping system.
3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising integrating, by the client computing device, with the mapping system to allow provision of the digital map with the sites of interest for the client computing device.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a number of the plurality of areas that the digital map is divided into is determined by display dimensions of a viewing screen of the client computing device.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a uniform size of the plurality of areas that the digital map is divided into is determined by display dimensions of a viewing screen of the client computing device.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving an election of a type of site of interest from user input, wherein the location sites that are of the elected site type are determined to be the sites of interest for the client computing device.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the type of site of interest comprises a merchant site.
8 . A system comprising:
a processor of a client computing device; and a memory configured to communicate with the processor, the memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, causes the client computing device to:
receive a digital map from a mapping system, wherein the digital map is associated with a plurality of location sites;
divide the digital map into a plurality of areas to encompass a geographical region of the digital map;
determine which location sites associated with the digital map by the mapping system are sites of interest for the client computing device;
calculate a number of sites of interest in individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map; and
display the digital map with a marker for individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map, wherein the market indicates a number of sites of interest that are located in a geographic region encompaned by the individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the client computing device to receive a mapping application programming interface from the mapping system.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions further cause the client computing device to integrate with the mapping system to allow provision of the digital map with the sites of interest for the client computing device.
11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein a number of the plurality of areas that the digital map is divided into is determined by display dimensions of a viewing screen of the client computing device.
12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein a uniform size of the plurality of areas that the digital map is divided into is determined by display dimensions of a viewing screen of the client computing device.
13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the client computing device to receive an election of a type of site of interest from user input, wherein the location sites that are of the elected site type are determined to be the sites of interest for the client computing device.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the type of site of interest comprises a merchant site.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by a processor of a client computing device, causes the client computing device to:
receive a digital map from a mapping system, wherein the digital map is associated with a plurality of location sites; divide the digital map into a plurality of areas to encompass a geographical region of the digital map; determine which location sites associated with the digital map by the mapping system are sites of interest for the client computing device; calculate a number of sites of interest in individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map; and display the digital map with a marker for individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map, wherein the marker indicates a number of sites of interest that are located in a geographic region encompassed by the individual ones of the plurality of areas of the digital map.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the client computing device to receive a mapping application programming interface front the mapping system.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the instructions further cause the client computing device to integrate with the mapping system to allow provision of the digital map with the sites of interest for the client computing device.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein a number of the plurality of areas that the digital map is divided into and a uniform size of the plurality of areas that the digital map is divided into are determined by display dimensions of a viewing screen of the client computing device.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the client computing device to receive an election of a type of site of interest from user input, wherein the location sites that are of the elected site type are determined to be the sites of interest for the client computing device.
