Abstract
Disclosed is a jewelry holding device for storing and displaying earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and other items of jewelry. The jewelry holder has a base from which extends a stem which supports a cover. The cover has one or more openings for storing and displaying piercing jewelry. The base of the jewelry holder is capable of releasable attachment to a storage support. The device stem optionally accommodates holding other items of jewelry such as necklaces, cuffs and bracelets. Also disclosed is a method for displaying and organizing jewelry using such a device.

1 . A jewelry storage device comprising:
a base region having a stem side, said base region comprising a peg; a stem extending from the stem side of the base region, said stem having a length of at least 0.5 cm and a stem width, said stem having a rear end and a face end, wherein the rear end of the stem connects to the base region, and the face end of the stem is generally away from the base region; a generally planar cover connected to the face end of the stem, and a cover width within said general plane that is larger than the stem width, wherein said cover comprises at least two openings passing through the plane of the generally planar cover, each opening having an area of at least about 1 square mm; and wherein the stem extends from the cover at least 0.5 cm distance from the nearest said opening passing through the plane of the cover.
2 . The jewelry storage device according to claim 1 wherein said stem is from about 3 to about 10 cm in length.
3 . The jewelry storage device according to claim 1 wherein said cover and stem are formed from a continuous piece of the same material and the stem is at an acute angle from or coplanar with the plane of the cover.
4 . The jewelry storage device according to claim 1 wherein said opening in the cover is a slit or keyhole-shaped aperture.
5 . The jewelry storage device according to claim 1 wherein said opening in the cover is a mesh.
6 . A jewelry storage system that comprises at least one jewelry storage device and a storage support:
wherein said jewelry storage device comprises a base region having a stem side, said base region comprising a means for removable attachment that comprises peg; a stem extending from the stem side of the base region, said stem having a length of at least 0.5 cm and a stem width, said stem having a rear end and a face end, wherein in the rear end of the stem connects to the base region, and the face end of the stem is generally away from the base region; a generally planar cover connected to the face end of the stem, and a cover width within that general plane that is larger than the stem width, wherein said cover comprises at least two openings passing through the plane of the generally planar cover, each opening having an area of at least about 1 square mm; and wherein the stem extends from the cover at least 0.5 cm distance from the nearest said opening passing through the plane of the cover; and wherein said storage support is a rack comprising an opening for receiving the peg of said jewelry storage device.
7 . The jewelry storage system according to claim 6 wherein said rack further comprises an adhesive member.
8 . The jewelry storage system according to claim 7 wherein said adhesive member is an operatively attached magnet.
9 . The jewelry storage system according to claim 7 wherein said adhesive member is a glue-type adhesive.
10 . The jewelry storage system according to claim 7 wherein said adhesive member is part of a hook and loop type adhesive.
