Abstract

A method and device include attaching a tether portion of a sleeve to a distal end of a catheter, placing the distal end of the catheter into a selected position within a vessel, moving a stent through a lumen of the catheter, retentively engaging a first end of the stent with a distal end of the sleeve, and detaching the sleeve about the tether portion such that the sleeve covers at least a portion of the stent at the selected position within the vessel.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. (Canceled)

. A deformable sleeve having a proximal end to couple to a distal end of a catheter, the sleeve including a hole positioned at a distal end of the sleeve and adapted to engage a strut of a stent advanced through a lumen of the catheter, and a tethered portion positioned between the proximal end of the sleeve and the distal end of the sleeve.

. The sleeve of claim 2 wherein the tethered portion comprises an annular set of perforations closer to the proximal end of the sleeve.

. The sleeve of claim 2 and further comprising a therapeutic coating on an outside of the sleeve.

. The sleeve of claim 2 wherein the therapeutic coating comprises a drug.

. The sleeve of claim 3 wherein the therapeutic coating comprises multiple drugs coating different portions of the outside of the sleeve.

. The sleeve of claim 4 wherein the therapeutic coating comprises cells.

. The sleeve of claim 2 wherein the sleeve comprises a polymer.

. The sleeve of claim 7 wherein the polymer comprises two or more polymers with different properties.

. The sleeve of claim 2 wherein the sleeve has a wall thickness of between 0.00635 mm and 0.127 mm.

. The sleeve of claim 2 wherein the sleeve has a length between the perforations and the distal end of between 1 mm-100 mm.

. The sleeve of claim 2 wherein the sleeve is tapered from the proximal end to the distal end.

. A device including a catheter having a lumen and a distal end, a deformable sleeve having a proximal end coupled to the distal end of the catheter, the sleeve having a hole positioned at a distal end of the sleeve and adapted to engage a strut of a stent advanced through the catheter lumen, and the sleeve having a tethered portion positioned between a proximal end of the sleeve and a distal end of the sleeve.

. The device of claim 12 and further including a sheath disposed over at least a portion of the sleeve.

. The device of claim 12 wherein the sleeve comprises a therapeutic coating.

. The device of claim 12 wherein the sleeve comprises a polymer having a wall thickness of between 0.00635 mm and 0.127 mm and a length between the perforations and the distal end of between 1 mm-100 mm.

. The device of claim 12 wherein the sleeve is tapered from the proximal end to the distal end.

. A device comprising:
stent having a strut extending from a first end of the stent; a deformable sleeve covering the stent between the first end and a second end of the stent, the sleeve having a distal end with a hole engaged with the strut and a proximal end of the sleeve extending toward the second end of the stent, the proximal end including a tethered portion.

. The device of claim 17 wherein the stent is expanded into retentive contact with the sleeve.

. The device of claim 17 wherein the tethered portion of the stent comprises remaining portions of an annular set of perforations.

. The device of claim 17 wherein the sleeve comprises a therapeutic coating.
