Abstract

A method for shearing an animal claw includes gripping a first handgrip of a shearing device extending from a first arm and a second handgrip extending from a second arm where the second arm is pivotally connected to said first arm. The animal claw is guided into a conical well disposed in the first arm and the tip but not the core of the animal claw is passed through an aperture disposed at an apex of the conical well. The first and second handgrips are squeezed thereby bringing the first and second arms together and cutting the animal claw with a circular cutting blade disposed along a periphery of the aperture.

         21 . A method for shearing an animal claw, comprising the steps of:
 gripping a first handgrip extending from a first arm and a second handgrip extending from a second arm pivotally connected to said first arm;   guiding an animal claw having a tip and a core into a conical well disposed in the first arm and traversing a sloping wall of the conical well with the animal claw;   passing the tip but not the core of the animal claw through an aperture disposed at an apex of the conical well;   squeezing the first and second handgrips and cutting the animal claw with a circular cutting blade disposed along a periphery of the aperture.   
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the handgrips are handles grippable by a user's thumb and fingers. 
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the pivotally connected first arm and second arm are movable relative one another about a single pivot point. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23  wherein the aperture is sized to allow the tip of the animal's claw to pass therethrough while prohibiting the core from passing therethrough.
