Abstract

Photobiomodulation therapy systems provide a highly effective way to treat many common ailments to the human body. Many embodiments described herein enable two or more light therapy devices to be communicatively coupled together in various ways. In some embodiments, the light therapy system includes a first light device and a second light device arranged and configured to be communicatively coupled to the first light device. Each of the light devices may include a housing, a communication module, and a plurality of lights arranged and configured to emit at least one of red light and near infrared light.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A light therapy system, comprising:
 a first light therapy device comprising a first housing and a first plurality of lights coupled to the first housing, the first plurality of lights configured to emit at least one of red light and near-infrared light, wherein the first light therapy device is configured to operate in at least one of a lead mode and a follow mode in response to user-initiated commands in connection with a first communication code module; and   a second light therapy device configured to communicate with the first light therapy device, the second light therapy device comprising a second housing and a second plurality of lights coupled to the second housing, the second plurality of lights configured to emit at least one of red light and near-infrared light, wherein the second light therapy device is configured to operate in at least one of the lead mode and the follow mode in response to user-initiated commands in connection with a second communication code module,   wherein when the first light therapy device operates in the lead mode and the second light therapy device operates in the follow mode, the second light therapy device performs operations as instructed by the first light therapy device, and when the second light therapy device operates in the lead mode and the first light therapy device operates in the follow mode, the first light therapy device performs operations as instructed by the second light therapy device.   
     
     
         2 . The light therapy system of  claim 1 , wherein the first communication code module and the second communication code module are communicatively coupled via a wireless connection. 
     
     
         3 . The light therapy system of  claim 1 , wherein the first light therapy device and the second light therapy device are communicatively coupled in a series wired connection. 
     
     
         4 . The light therapy system of  claim 1 , wherein the first light therapy device and the second light therapy device are communicatively coupled in a parallel wired connection. 
     
     
         5 . The light therapy system of  claim 1 , wherein each of the first light therapy device and the second light therapy device are further configured to operate in a neutral mode. 
     
     
         6 . The light therapy system of  claim 5 , wherein when the first light therapy device operates in the neutral mode, the first light therapy device performs operations independently of the second light therapy device, and when the second light therapy device operates in the neutral mode, the second light therapy device performs operations independently of the first light therapy device. 
     
     
         7 . The light therapy system of  claim 1 , further comprising a bracket physically coupled to the first light therapy device and the second light therapy device. 
     
     
         8 . The light therapy system of  claim 7 , wherein the first light therapy device and the second light therapy device are aligned in the same plane. 
     
     
         9 . A light therapy system, comprising:
 a first light therapy device comprising a first housing and a first plurality of lights coupled to the first housing, the first plurality of lights configured to emit at least one of red light and near-infrared light, wherein the first light therapy device is configured to operate in at least one of a lead mode and a follow mode in response to user-initiated commands from a remote computing device; and   a second light therapy device configured to communicate with the first light therapy device, the second light therapy device comprising a second housing and a second plurality of lights coupled to the second housing, the second plurality of lights configured to emit at least one of red light and near-infrared light, wherein the second light therapy device is configured to operate in at least one of the lead mode and the follow mode in response to user-initiated commands from the remote computing device,   wherein when the first light therapy device operates in the lead mode and the second light therapy device operates in the follow mode, the second light therapy device performs operations as instructed by the first light therapy device, and when the second light therapy device operates in the lead mode and the first light therapy device operates in the follow mode, the first light therapy device performs operations as instructed by the second light therapy device.   
     
     
         10 . The light therapy system of  claim 9 , wherein the remote computing device is a phone. 
     
     
         11 . The light therapy system of  claim 9 , wherein the remote computing device is a tablet. 
     
     
         12 . The light therapy system of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 a first communication code module coupled to the first light therapy device; and   a second communication code module coupled to the second light therapy device,   wherein the first communication code module and the second communication code module are communicatively coupled via a wireless connection.   
     
     
         13 . The light therapy system of  claim 9 , wherein the first light therapy device and the second light therapy device are communicatively coupled in a series wired connection. 
     
     
         14 . The light therapy system of  claim 9 , wherein the first light therapy device and the second light therapy device are communicatively coupled in a parallel wired connection. 
     
     
         15 . The light therapy system of  claim 9 , wherein each of the first light therapy device and the second light therapy device are further configured to operate in a neutral mode. 
     
     
         16 . The light therapy system of  claim 15 , wherein when the first light therapy device operates in the neutral mode, the first light therapy device performs operations independently of the second light therapy device, and when the second light therapy device operates in the neutral mode, the second light therapy device performs operations independently of the first light therapy device. 
     
     
         17 . The light therapy system of  claim 16 , wherein the first light therapy device is configured to operate in the at least one of the lead mode and the follow mode in response to the user-initiated commands from the remote computing device, in connection with a communication protocol, according to a control protocol, and
 wherein the second light therapy device is configured to operate in the at least one of the lead mode and the follow mode in response to the user-initiated commands from the remote computing device, in connection with the communication protocol, according to the control protocol.   
     
     
         18 . The light therapy system of  claim 17 , wherein the communication protocol is selected from the group consisting of Zigbee, Bluetooth, BLE, Z-Wave, near-field communication (NFC), cellular network protocols (3G, 4G, 5G), Wi-Fi, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         19 . The light therapy system of  claim 17 , wherein the control protocol includes a pause control. 
     
     
         20 . The light therapy system of  claim 17 , wherein the control protocol includes at least one of a lead mode control, a follow mode control, and a neutral mode control.
