Analytics in video/audio content distribution networks
Abstract
A method may comprise collecting data from a core network, an operator network and a customer premise network. KPI values corresponding to one or more KPIs may be determined, based on the collected data. KQI values corresponding to one or more KQIs may be determined, based on the one or more of the determined KPI values. The determined KQI values may be output to an operator. In an embodiment, data collected from the core network may include data collected from one or more analyzer devices and head end probes. Data collected from a customer premise network may include data collected from last mile equipment or customer premise probes.

1 . A method comprising:
collecting data from a core network, an operator network and a customer premise network; determining one or more key performance indicator (KPI) values corresponding to one or more KPIs, based on the collected data; determining one or more key quality indicator (KQI) values corresponding to one or more KQIs, based on the one or more determined KPI values; and outputting the determined one or more KQI values.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more KQIs are determined from the one or more KPIs.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data collected from the core network includes data collected from one or more analyzer devices and head end probes.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data collected from the customer premise network includes data collected from one or more last mile equipment or one or more customer premise probes.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data collected from the operator network includes data collected from one or more fault management (FM)/performance management (PM) systems.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the KPIs include a service availability ratio, a number of subscriber sessions with a degradation and a service recovery time.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the KQIs include an availability factor of operator equipment for media transmission, an availability factor of a service provider, and an ability factor of subscriber equipment for media reception.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the availability factor for the subscriber equipment is an availability factor which is weighted based on two or more of: a live media component, a video on demand (VOD) component, a personal video recorder (PVR) component, an electronic program guide (EPG) component, a channel switching time or a download time component.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the KQIs and KPIs are determined in accordance with a capability of one or more of a subscriber set top box (STB), over the top (OTT) player, cellular telephone, tablet or streaming stick.
10 . A network analytics system comprising:
a receiver configured to receive data from a core network, an operator network and a customer premise network; circuitry configured to determine one or more key performance indicator (KPI) values corresponding to one or more KPIs, based on the received data; circuitry configured to determine one or more key quality indicator (KQI) values corresponding to one or more KQIs, based on the one or more determined KPI values; and a transmitter configured to transmit an indication of the determined one or more KQI values.
11 . The network analytics system of claim 10 , wherein the KQIs and KPIs are determined in accordance with a capability of one or more of a subscriber set top box (STB), over the top (OTT) player, cellular telephone, tablet or streaming stick.

The network analytics system of claim 11 , wherein the capability includes one or more of: an uplink or downlink capability, a WiFi protocol capability, a decoding capability, a display size or type, a power or energy management capability or an Internet protocol capability.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
