All stainless steel grid drain with removable center plug

Abstract

An improved drain plug assembly comprising a removable inner strainer disc that can be easily removed to provide access by a cleaning auger.

1 . A drain plug assembly with a removable round center piece which when removed provides an open access hole with a patent diameter of at least 13 mm, the drain plug assembly comprising (i) an elongated tube that adapted to fit into a drain hole of a sink, the elongated tube having an upper end and a lower end, with a diameter X at its mid-point, wherein the upper end of the elongated tube defines an upper ring, partially occluding the upper end of the elongated tube, with a central hole in the middle of the upper ring, having a diameter Y, and a removable inner disc adapted to fit sealably into the central hole, wherein the removable inner disc has a diameter Y, wherein the removable inner disc and the central hole of the drain plug assembly fit sealably together. 
     
     
         2 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  wherein the removable inner disc and the central hole of the drain plug assembly fit sealably together using a threaded assembly. 
     
     
         3 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  wherein the removable inner disc and the central hole of the drain plug assembly fit sealably together using a press-fit assembly. 
     
     
         4 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  wherein the removable inner disc and the central hole of the drain plug assembly fit sealably together using a lure-lock assembly. 
     
     
         5 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  wherein the removable inner disc and the central hole of the drain plug assembly fit sealably together using a washer assembly. 
     
     
         6 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  wherein the removable inner disc has a diameter of between 10 mm and 20 mm. 
     
     
         7 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  wherein the removable inner disc has a diameter of at least 13 mm. 
     
     
         8 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  wherein the central hole in the middle of the upper ring is adapted to allow access of a cleaning auger having a diameter of 12 mm. 
     
     
         9 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  wherein removable inner disc is a strainer disc comprising a plurality of perforations. 
     
     
         10 . The drain plug assembly of  claim 1  further comprising an overflow tube that connects to a main drain.
