Enclosure for cable distribution assembly
Abstract
An enclosure for breaking out a trunk cable includes: a base having a generally flat surface adapted for mounting to a mounting surface; a shell having a front and two side walls extending from opposite sides of the front and two opposed end walls, the side walls of the shell mounted to the base to form a cavity; a plurality of connectors mounted to each of the side walls; and a trunk cable routed into the cavity through one of the end walls, the trunk cable comprising a plurality of power conductors and/or a plurality of optical fibers. The power conductors and the optical fibers are connected with respective ones of the plurality of connectors.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 18 . (canceled)
19 . An assembly enclosure for breaking out a hybrid cable, the assembly enclosure comprising:
a base adapted for mounting to a mounting surface, wherein the base includes a rim; a shell having a front and a plurality of side walls extending from sides of the front, wherein a distal end of at least one of the plurality of side walls have a thicker section with at least one lip extending therefrom; a plurality of connectors mounted to at least two of the plurality of side walls and terminating the hybrid cable having a plurality of power conductors and a plurality of optical fibers; and a sealing adhesive conjoining the shell mounted to the base forming a cavity, wherein the sealing adhesive is bonded between the rim and the at least one lip.
20 . The assembly enclosure of claim 19 , wherein the at least one lip includes an inner lip and an outer lip, the rim disposed between the inner lip and the outer lip.
21 . The assembly enclosure of claim 20 , wherein the inner lip is longer than the outer lip.
22 . The assembly enclosure of claim 19 , wherein the sealing adhesive provides a water tight seal.
23 . The assembly enclosure of claim 19 , wherein the thicker section of the shell is thicker than the base.
24 . The assembly enclosure of claim 23 , wherein the shell is thinner than the base except for the thicker section.
25 . The assembly enclosure of claim 19 , wherein the assembly enclosure has a generally triangular or trapezoidal cross-section.
26 . The assembly enclosure of claim 19 , wherein the front includes no connectors mounted thereon.
27 . An assembly enclosure for breaking out a hybrid cable, the assembly enclosure comprising:
a base having a generally flat surface adapted for mounting to a mounting surface; a shell having a front wall and two side walls extending from opposite sides of the front wall, the shell also having a top wall and a bottom wall extending from opposite sides of the front wall, the side, top, and bottom walls mounted to the base to form a cavity; a plurality of connectors mounted to each of the two side walls and terminating the hybrid cable having a plurality of power conductors and a plurality of optical fibers; and a cable receiver extending from the bottom wall and configured to rout the hybrid cable into the cavity, wherein an exterior surface of the front wall is smooth between the top and bottom walls of the shell.
28 . The assembly enclosure of claim 27 , wherein the front wall is curved in a direction between the two side walls.
29 . The assembly enclosure of claim 27 , wherein the top wall is curved.
30 . The assembly enclosure of claim 27 , wherein the top wall has a spearheaded surface.
31 . The assembly enclosure of claim 27 , wherein the base is longer than the front wall.
32 . The assembly enclosure of claim 27 , wherein the two side walls are generally perpendicular to the front wall.
33 . The assembly enclosure of claim 27 , wherein the front wall has a rounded profile that merges with the two side walls.
34 . The assembly enclosure of claim 27 , wherein the front wall includes no connectors.
35 . An assembly enclosure for breaking out a hybrid cable, the assembly enclosure comprising:
a base having a generally flat surface adapted for mounting to a mounting surface; a shell having a front wall and two side walls extending from opposite sides of the front wall, the shell also having a top wall and a bottom wall extending from opposite sides of the front wall, the side, top, and bottom walls mounted to the base to form a cavity; a plurality of connectors mounted to each of the two side walls and terminating the hybrid cable having a plurality of power conductors and a plurality of optical fibers; and a cable receiver extending from the bottom wall and configured to rout the hybrid cable into the cavity, wherein an exterior surface of the front wall and the top wall are curved and smooth.
36 . The assembly enclosure of claim 35 , further including a vent adapted to equalize pressure within the cavity.
37 . The assembly enclosure of claim 35 , wherein the two side walls are planar surfaces.
38 . The assembly enclosure of claim 35 , wherein the two side walls are generally perpendicular to the front wall, and wherein the front wall includes no connectors.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
