Abstract

An information processing apparatus includes a first acquisition unit configured to acquire a position and orientation of a display apparatus capable of displaying one or more virtual objects, a second acquisition unit configured to acquire a position and orientation of a target virtual object out of the one or more virtual objects, and a control unit configured to determine a method of displaying the target virtual object on the display apparatus based on the position and orientation of the display apparatus and the position and orientation of the target virtual object.

         2 . A head-mounted display (HMD), comprising:
 a camera configured to capture an image of a real space;   a sensor configured to acquire a position of the HMD or an orientation of the HMD;   a display configured to display a virtual object to a user wearing the HMD; and   a controller configured to control the display,   wherein, the controller displays, on the display, a first virtual object which moves in accordance with movement of another user wearing another HMD, and, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than a threshold, the controller changes transparency of the first virtual object.   
     
     
         3 . The HMD according to  claim 2 , wherein the controller displays the first virtual object and a second virtual object which does not move in accordance with the movement of the another user wearing the another HMD, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than a threshold, the controller changes the transparency of the first virtual object, and, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the second virtual object is smaller than the threshold, the controller does not change transparency of the second virtual object. 
     
     
         4 . The HMD according to  claim 2 , wherein, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than the threshold, the controller increases the transparency of the first virtual object. 
     
     
         5 . The HMD according to  claim 4 , wherein, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than the threshold, the controller hides the first virtual object. 
     
     
         6 . The HMD according to  claim 2 , wherein the first virtual object is an avatar which moves in accordance with the movement of the another user wearing the another HMD. 
     
     
         7 . The HMD according to  claim 2 , wherein the first virtual object is a virtual object which moves in accordance with movement of a real object hold by the another user wearing the another HMD in hand. 
     
     
         8 . The HMD according to  claim 2 , wherein the HMD displays a mixed reality image to the user. 
     
     
         9 . The HMD according to  claim 8 , wherein the display displays a combined image generated by combining a real image captured by the camera and the first virtual object. 
     
     
         10 . A method for controlling a head-mounted display (HMD), comprising:
 capturing an image of a real space;   acquiring a position of the HMD or an orientation of the HMD;   displaying, on a display, a virtual object to a user wearing the HMD; and   controlling the display,   wherein, the controlling displays, on the display, a first virtual object which moves in accordance with movement of another user wearing another HMD, and, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than a threshold, the controlling changes transparency of the first virtual object.

The method according to  claim 10 , wherein the controlling displays the first virtual object and a second virtual object which does not move in accordance with the movement of the another user wearing the another HMD, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than a threshold, the controlling changes the transparency of the first virtual object, and, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the second virtual object is smaller than the threshold, the controlling does not change transparency of the second virtual object. 
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 10 , wherein, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than the threshold, the controlling increases the transparency of the first virtual object. 
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 12 , wherein, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than the threshold, the controlling hides the first virtual object. 
     
     
         14 . The method according to  claim 10 , wherein the first virtual object is an avatar which moves in accordance with the movement of the another user wearing the another HMD. 
     
     
         15 . The method according to  claim 10 , wherein the first virtual object is a virtual object which moves in accordance with movement of a real object hold by the another user wearing the another HMD in hand. 
     
     
         16 . The method according to  claim 10 , wherein the HMD displays a mixed reality image to the user. 
     
     
         17 . The method according to  claim 16 , wherein the displaying displays a combined image generated by combining a real image captured by the camera and the first virtual object. 
     
     
         18 . A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a program for causing a computer to perform a method for controlling a head-mounted display (HMD), the method comprising;
 capturing an image of a real space;   acquiring a position of the HMD or an orientation of the HMD;   displaying, on a display, a virtual object to a user wearing the HMD; and   controlling the display,   wherein, the controlling displays, on the display, a first virtual object which moves in accordance with movement of another user wearing another HMD, and, in a case where a distance between the HMD and the first virtual object is smaller than a threshold, the controlling changes transparency of the first virtual object.
