Aerosol-generating article with improved configuration
Abstract
An aerosol-generating article for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating is provided, the aerosol-generating article including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; a mouthpiece element having a length of at least 10 millimetres; and an intermediate hollow section between the rod of aerosol-generating substrate and the mouthpiece element, the intermediate hollow section including an aerosol-cooling element in axial alignment with the mouthpiece element and abutting an upstream end of the mouthpiece element, the aerosol-cooling element having a length of less than 10 millimetres and including a hollow tubular segment defining a longitudinal cavity providing an unrestricted flow channel, in which the hollow tubular segment has a wall thickness of between 1.5 millimetres and 2.5 millimetres.

15 . An aerosol-generating article for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating, the aerosol-generating article comprising:
a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; a mouthpiece element having a length of at least 10 millimetres; and an intermediate hollow section between the rod of aerosol-generating substrate and the mouthpiece element, the intermediate hollow section comprising an aerosol-cooling element in axial alignment with the mouthpiece element and abutting an upstream end of the mouthpiece element, the aerosol-cooling element having a length of less than 10 millimetres and comprising a hollow tubular segment defining a longitudinal cavity providing an unrestricted flow channel, wherein the hollow tubular segment has a wall thickness of between 1.5 millimetres and 2.5 millimetres.
16 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein the length of the mouthpiece element is at least 2 millimetres greater than the length of the aerosol-cooling element.
17 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein the aerosol-cooling element further comprises a ventilation zone provided at a location along the hollow tubular segment of the aerosol-cooling element.
18 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 ,
wherein the intermediate hollow section further defines a support element between the aerosol-cooling element and the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, and wherein the support element comprises another hollow tubular segment.
19 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 18 , wherein a ratio between an internal diameter of the hollow tubular segment of the aerosol-cooling element and an internal diameter of the another hollow tubular segment of the support element is at least about 1.25.
20 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein an internal diameter of the hollow tubular segment of the aerosol-cooling element is at least 3 millimetres.
21 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein a resistance to draw (RTD) of the aerosol-cooling element is less than 10 millimetres H 2 O.
22 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein a length of the intermediate hollow section is no more than 18 millimetres.
23 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , further comprising an upstream element provided upstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate.
24 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 23 , wherein a resistance to draw (RTD) of the upstream element is at least 20 millimetres H 2 O.
25 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 23 , wherein a resistance to draw (RTD) of the upstream element is at least 2 times a RTD of the mouthpiece element.
26 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein the length of the mouthpiece element is at least 0.4 times the length of the intermediate hollow section.
27 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein the rod of aerosol-generating substrate comprises an elongate susceptor element extending in a longitudinal direction through the rod of aerosol-generating substrate.
28 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein the rod of aerosol-generating substrate comprises a gel composition.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
