Abstract

Systems, devices, media, instructions, and methods are provided for presentation of media collections with automated advertising. In one embodiment, display time data associated for a first plurality of content elements and a first advertising element as displayed on a first device are used in adjusting a presentation order for a second content collection comprising a second plurality of content elements and at least a second advertising element, where a placement of the second advertising element within the presentation order is based on the display time data. In some embodiments, a ratio of advertising to content elements is targeted over time for a user based on user interactions with various content and advertising elements.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method, comprising:
transmitting, to a server computer, a request for content associated with a first media collection; receiving, from the server computer, a plurality of content elements associated with the first media collection and at least a first advertising element; displaying, on an output display of a device, the plurality of content elements and the first advertising element; storing, in a memory of a device, first display timing data associated with a first display time of the plurality of content elements and a second display time of the first advertising element; communicating the first display timing data to the server computer; and receiving, from the server computer, a second plurality of content elements and at least a second advertising element associated with a display order, wherein the display order is based at least in part on the first display timing data.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first display timing data further comprises a number of content elements displayed and a number of advertising elements displayed.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
displaying, on the output display of the device, the second plurality of content elements and the second advertising element; receiving, at an input of the device, one or more element skip inputs; and storing, in a memory of the device, second display timing data associated with a second display time of the plurality of content elements and a second display time of the second advertising element based, at least in part, on the one or more element skip inputs.

4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:
communicating the second display timing data to the server computer; and receiving, from the server computer, a third plurality of content elements and at least a third advertising element associated with a third display order, wherein the third display order is based at least in part on the one or more element skip inputs.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first media collection is associated with a shared set of media collection characteristics.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the shared set of media collection characteristics is part of a live story.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each content element of the plurality of content elements is associated with an individual display time less than or equal to ten seconds.

         8 . A device comprising:
a processor; and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the processor to perform operations comprising: transmitting, to a server computer, a request for content associated with a first media collection; receiving, from the server computer, a plurality of content elements associated with the first media collection and at least a first advertising element; displaying, on an output display of the device, the plurality of content elements and the first advertising element; storing, in a memory of the device, first display timing data associated with a first display time of the plurality of content elements and a second display time of the first advertising element; communicating the first display timing data to the server computer; and receiving, from the server computer, a second plurality of content elements and at least a second advertising element associated with a display order, wherein the display order is based at least in part on the first display timing data.

9 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the first display timing data further comprises a number of content elements displayed and a number of advertising elements displayed.

10 . The device of claim 9 , the operations further comprising:
displaying, on the output display of the device, the second plurality of content elements and the second advertising element; receiving, at an input of the device, one or more element skip inputs; and storing, in a memory of the device, second display timing data associated with a second display time of the plurality of content elements and a second display time of the second advertising element based, at least in part, on the one or more element skip inputs.

11 . The device of claim 10 , the operations further comprising:
communicating the second display timing data to the server computer; and receiving, from the server computer, a third plurality of content elements and at least a third advertising element associated with a third display order, wherein the third display order is based at least in part on the one or more element skip inputs.

12 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the first media collection is associated with a shared set of media collection characteristics.

13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the shared set of media collection characteristics is part of a live story.

14 . The device of claim 8 , wherein each content element of the plurality of content elements is associated with an individual display time less than or equal to ten seconds.

15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the computer-readable storage medium including instructions that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform operations comprising:
transmitting, to a server computer, a request for content associated with a first media collection; receiving, from the server computer, a plurality of content elements associated with the first media collection and at least a first advertising element; displaying, on an output display of a device, the plurality of content elements and the first advertising element; storing, in a memory of a device, first display timing data associated with a first display time of the plurality of content elements and a second display time of the first advertising element; communicating the first display timing data to the server computer; and receiving, from the server computer, a second plurality of content elements and at least a second advertising element associated with a display order, wherein the display order is based at least in part on the first display timing data.

16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the first display timing data further comprises a number of content elements displayed and a number of advertising elements displayed.

17 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 16 , the operations further comprising:
displaying, on the output display of the device, the second plurality of content elements and the second advertising element; receiving, at an input of the device, one or more element skip inputs; and storing, in a memory of the device, second display timing data associated with a second display time of the plurality of content elements and a second display time of the second advertising element based, at least in part, on the one or more element skip inputs.

18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , the operations further comprising:
communicating the second display timing data to the server computer; and receiving, from the server computer, a third plurality of content elements and at least a third advertising element associated with a third display order, wherein the third display order is based at least in part on the one or more element skip inputs.
