Abstract

A window attachment system for attaching a window to an opening in a building includes a male portion and a female portion. One of the male portion and the female portion is attached to one of the outer perimeter of the window frame or the inner perimeter of the opening in the building. The other of the male portion and the female portion is attached to the outer perimeter of the window frame or the inner perimeter of the opening in the building. The male portion is engaged with the female portion when the window is placed into the opening.

         21 . A window attachment system for attaching a window to an opening in a building comprising:
 a window frame having an outer perimeter, the window frame comprising a male portion; and   a female portion disposed on an inner perimeter of the opening,   wherein the male portion configured to couple with the female portion.   
     
     
         22 . The window attachment system of  claim 21 , further comprising a weather insulating seal. 
     
     
         23 . The window attachment system of  claim 22 , wherein the weather insulating seal comprises a backer rod and a caulking material. 
     
     
         24 . The window attachment system of  claim 23 , wherein the backer rod abuts the male portion and the female portion. 
     
     
         25 . The window attachment system of  claim 21 , wherein the male portion includes an enlarged end. 
     
     
         26 . The window attachment system of  claim 25 , wherein the female portion comprises a flexible clip, and wherein the female portion comprises a pocket configured to receive the enlarged end of the male portion. 
     
     
         27 . The window attachment system of  claim 21 , wherein the female portion comprises an L-bracket configured to mount to the inner perimeter of the opening. 
     
     
         28 . The window attachment system of  claim 27 , wherein a first leg of the L-bracket is configured to abut a stud and a second leg of the L-bracket is configured to abut a sheathing. 
     
     
         29 . The window attachment system of  claim 21 , wherein the female portion comprises a straight bracket configured to mount to the inner perimeter of the opening, the straight bracket configured to abut one or more of a stud, a sheathing, and a cladding. 
     
     
         30 . A window kit comprising:
 a window comprising an outer frame; and   a male portion of an attachment system coupled to the outer frame.   
     
     
         31 . The window kit of  claim 30 , wherein the outer frame comprises a weather seal, the male portion of the attachment system coupled to the weather seal. 
     
     
         32 . The window kit of  claim 31 , wherein the weather seal comprises a sill, and wherein the weather seal abuts an additional seal. 
     
     
         33 . The window kit of  claim 30  further comprising a female portion of the attachment system, the female portion configured to mount on a building opening. 
     
     
         34 . The window kit of  claim 33 , wherein the female portion is configured to couple with the male portion to secure the window to the opening. 
     
     
         35 . The window kit of  claim 34 , wherein the male portion is continuous around the outer frame, and wherein the female portion is continuous around the opening. 
     
     
         36 . The window kit of  claim 33 , wherein the male portion is formed of multiple parts. 
     
     
         37 . A method of attaching a window to an opening in a building comprising:
 providing a window frame, the window frame comprising a male portion of a window attachment system;   attaching a female portion of a window attachment system to the opening in a building;   positioning the window to align the male portion and the female portion of the window attachment system; and   applying a force sufficient to engage the male portion with the female portion.   
     
     
         38 . The method of  claim 37  further comprising weatherproofing an outer perimeter of the window frame. 
     
     
         39 . The method of  claim 38 , wherein a backer rod is applied between the window frame and the building, and wherein a caulking material is applied over the backer rod. 
     
     
         40 . The method of  claim 39  further comprising insulting the window frame, wherein an insulation material is applied between the window frame and the building.
