Bedside Storage Assembly

Abstract

A bedside storage assembly includes a panel that is elongated such that the panel can be slid between a mattress and a box spring of a bed. A pole is coupled to and extends upwardly from the panel to extend upwardly beyond the mattress when the panel is positioned between the mattress and the box spring. A pair of retention collars is each positionable around the pole. A pair of mounting collars each rests on a respective one of the retention collars. A basket is attached to each of the mounting collars thereby facilitating the basket to be suspended on the pole such that the basket is accessible to a user lying on the bed. A pair of dividers is each positioned in the basket to define a plurality of storage areas in the basket for storing objects.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A bedside storage assembly for storing objects next to a bed to facilitate the objects to be accessible from the bed, said assembly comprising:
 a panel being elongated wherein said panel is configured to be slid between a mattress and a box spring of a bed;   a pole being coupled to and extending upwardly from said panel wherein said pole is configured to extend upwardly beyond the mattress when said panel is positioned between the mattress and the box spring;   a pair of retention collars, each of said retention collars being positionable around said pole;   a pair of mounting collars, each of said mounting collars being positionable around said pole, each of said mounting collars resting on a respective one of said retention collars;   a basket being attached to each of said mounting collars thereby facilitating said basket to be suspended on said pole wherein said basket is configured to be accessible to a user lying on the bed; and   a pair of dividers, each of said dividers being positioned in said basket to define a plurality of storage areas in said basket wherein each of said storage areas is configured to store objects.   
     
     
         2 . The assembly according to  claim 1 , wherein:
 said panel has a first end, a second end and a top surface extending between said first end and said second end, said panel being elongated betweens said first end and said second end;   said pole has a lower end and an upper end, said lower end being coupled to said top surface of said panel at a point being located adjacent to said second en of said panel, said lower end is coupled to said top surface of said panel at a point being located adjacent to said second en of said panel;   said pole comprising a first section slidably engaging a second section such that said pole has a telescopically adjustable height, said lower end being associated with said first section, said upper end being associated with said second section, said second section having a plurality of holes each extending through said second section, said holes being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along a substantial length of said second section, said upper end being open; and   said assembly includes a lock being movably integrated into said first section of said pole, said lock being biased to extend outwardly form said first section, said lock engaging a respective one of said holes in said second section for retaining said pole at a selected height.   
     
     
         3 . The assembly according to  claim 2 , wherein:
 each of said retention collars is positionable at a selected point on second section of said pole; and   said assembly includes a pair of set screws, each of said set screws extending through a respective one of said retention collars, each of said set screws engaging said second section of said pole when said set screws are tightened for retaining said respective retention collar at said selected point on said second section.   
     
     
         4 . The assembly according to  claim 1 , wherein each of said mounting collars has an outer surface, said outer surface on each of said mounting collars having a tab extending outwardly from said outer surface, said tab on said outer surface of each of said mounting collars having a distal surface with respect to said outer surface, said distal surface of said tab having a channel extending inwardly on said distal surface, said channel being oriented to extend along a horizontal axis when said mounting collars are positioned around said pole. 
     
     
         5 . The assembly according to  claim 4 , wherein said basket includes a plurality of first members comprising a central portion extending between a pair of upright portions such that each of said first members has a U-shape, said plurality of first members being strategically arranged such that said central portion of each of said first members defines a floor of said basket and each of said upright portions defines a respective one of a plurality of walls of said basket, said basket including a plurality of second members each being continuous, each of said second members extending around said walls defined by said upright portions of said first members, each of said second members being bonded to said channel in said distal surface of said tab on a respective one of said mounting collars.

The assembly according to  claim 5 , wherein each of said dividers is defined by a rod having a series of bends being integrated into said rod to define a pair of floor sections of said rod extending between a pair of vertical sections of said rod, each of said floor sections resting on said floor of said basket defined by central portion of said first members of said basket having each of said vertical sections extending upwardly from said floor of said basket, said vertical sections being spaced apart from each other and being distributed between a respective pair of walls of said basket defined by said upright portions of said first members to define said storage areas between said pair of vertical sections and between said vertical sections and said respective pair of said walls of said basket. 
     
     
         7 . A bedside storage assembly for storing objects next to a bed to facilitate the objects to be accessible from the bed, said assembly comprising:
 a panel being elongated wherein said panel is configured to be slid between a mattress and a box spring of a bed, a pole being coupled to and extending upwardly from said panel wherein said pole is configured to extend upwardly beyond the mattress when said panel is positioned between the mattress and the box spring, said pole having a lower end and an upper end, said lower end being coupled to said top surface of said panel at a point being located adjacent to said second en of said panel, said pole comprising a first section slidably engaging a second section such that said pole has a telescopically adjustable height, said lower end being associated with said first section, said upper end being associated with said second section, said second section having a plurality of holes each extending through said second section, said holes being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along a substantial length of said second section, said upper end being open;   a lock being movably integrated into said first section of said pole, said lock being biased to extend outwardly form said first section, said lock engaging a respective one of said holes in said second section for retaining said pole at a selected height;   a pair of retention collars, each of said retention collars being positionable around said pole, each of said retention collars being positionable at a selected point on second section of said pole;   a pair of set screws, each of said set screws extending through a respective one of said retention collars, each of said set screws engaging said second section of said pole when said set screws are tightened for retaining said respective retention collar at said selected point on said second section;   a pair of mounting collars, each of said mounting collars being positionable around said pole, each of said mounting collars resting on a respective one of said retention collars, each of said mounting collars having an outer surface, said outer surface on each of said mounting collars having a tab extending outwardly from said outer surface, said tab on said outer surface of each of said mounting collars having a distal surface with respect to said outer surface, said distal surface of said tab having a channel extending inwardly on said distal surface, said channel being oriented to extend along a horizontal axis when said mounting collars are positioned around said pole;   a basket being attached to each of said mounting collars thereby facilitating said basket to be suspended on said pole wherein said basket is configured to be accessible to a user lying on the bed, said basket including a plurality of first members comprising a central portion extending between a pair of upright portions such that each of said first members has a U-shape, said plurality of first members being strategically arranged such that said central portion of each of said first members defines a floor of said basket and each of said upright portions defines a respective one of a plurality of walls of said basket, said basket including a plurality of second members each being continuous, each of said second members extending around said walls defined by said upright portions of said first members, each of said second members being bonded to said channel in said distal surface of said tab on a respective one of said mounting collars; and   a pair of dividers, each of said dividers being positioned in said basket to define a plurality of storage areas in said basket wherein each of said storage areas is configured to store objects, each of said dividers being defined by a rod having a series of bends being integrated into said rod to define a pair of floor sections of said rod extending between a pair of vertical sections of said rod, each of said floor sections resting on said floor of said basket defined by central portion of said first members of said basket having each of said vertical sections extending upwardly from said floor of said basket, said vertical sections being spaced apart from each other and being distributed between a respective pair of walls of said basket defined by said upright portions of said first members to define said storage areas between said pair of vertical sections and between said vertical sections and said respective pair of said walls of said basket.
