Trigger restriction device for conducted energy devices
Abstract
A trigger restriction device for use with a conducted energy device (CED) with a trigger well opening having two opposing sides. The trigger restriction device has a blocking member, an optional top member connected to a top of the blocking member and oriented non-parallel to the blocking member, and a non-blocking member connected to at least one of the blocking member and the top member the non-blocking member facilitating one possible means of trigger restriction attachment to the CED. The trigger restriction device is shaped and designed so when the trigger restriction device is attached to a CED, the blocking member blocks access to the trigger well on one side of the CED while the non-blocking member allows access to the trigger well on an opposing side of the CED.

1 . A trigger restriction device for use with a conducted energy device (CED), the CED having a trigger well opening with two opposing sides, the trigger restriction device comprising:
a blocking member; a top member connected to a top of the blocking member and oriented non-parallel to the blocking member; and a non-blocking member connected to at least one of the blocking member and the top member, wherein the trigger restriction device when attached to a CED, the blocking member is operably configured to block access to the trigger well on one side of the CED while the non-blocking member is operably configured to allow access to the trigger well on an opposing side of the CED.
2 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein device is asymmetrical and the blocking member is of a size to substantially cover the one side of the CED’s trigger well.
3 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the blocking member is less than 2.5 inches in length and less than 1.5 inches in width.
4 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the blocking member is approximately 1.75 inches in height and approximately 1 inch in width.
5 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the top member is less than 2.5 inches in width and less than 3 inches in length.
6 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the top member is approximately 0.5 inches in width and approximately 1 inch in length.
7 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , further comprising an inwardly angled end extending from the non-blocking member, being angled between 25 degrees to 80 degrees from the non-blocking member.
8 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein a combination of at least two of the blocking member, top member, non-blocking member and inwardly angled end, are configured to operably attach the trigger restriction device to a CED when pushed over a top of the CED.
9 . The trigger restriction of claim 1 , wherein a combination of at least two of the blocking member, top member, non-blocking member and inwardly angled end, are spring biased so as to operable attach the trigger restriction device to a CED when pushed over a top of the CED.
10 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the connected blocking and top members form an L-shape.
11 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the blocking member and top member are integrally formed from a single material.
12 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the blocking member, top member and non-blocking member are integrally formed from a single material.
13 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the blocking member is substantially rectangular in shape and a corner of the blocking member is rounded or trimmed.
14 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the blocking member, top member, and non-blocking member are planar.
15 . The trigger restriction device of claim 14 , wherein the device forms a U-shape with one shorter leg to form an asymmetrical device.
16 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the top member is substantially perpendicular to the blocking member.
17 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the non-blocking member is a fastening strap.
18 . The trigger restriction device of claim 17 , wherein the fastening strap is attached to at least one of the blocking member and the top member.
19 . The trigger restriction device of claim 17 , further comprising one or more openings in the blocking member, wherein an end of the fastening strap is inserted therein.
20 . The trigger restriction device of claim 19 , wherein the one or more openings are plurality of slots displaced vertically from each other, the plurality of slots providing length adjustment for the fastening strap.
21 . The trigger restriction device of claim 19 , further comprising a hook and loop arrangement on at least one of the blocking member and top member.
22 . The trigger restriction device of claim 20 , further comprising a mating hook and loop arrangement on at least one end of the fastening strap.
23 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the blocking member and top member is formed from at least one of resin, plastic, rubber, nylon, and metal.
24 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein device is attached to the CED via an adhesive.
25 . The trigger restriction device of claim 1 , wherein the blocking member is permanently attached to the CED.
26 . A trigger restriction device for use with a conducted energy device (CED), the CED having a trigger well opening with two opposing sides, the trigger restriction device comprising:
a blocking member; and a flexible non-blocking member having opposite ends, wherein one of the ends is configured for connection to either a top or bottom portion of the blocking member, and an other end is configured for connection to an opposite portion of the blocking member, wherein the trigger restriction device when attached via the non-blocking member to a CED, the blocking member is operably configured to block access to the trigger well on one side of the CED while the non-blocking member is operably configured to allow access to the trigger well on an opposing side of the CED.
27 . The trigger restriction device of claim 26 , wherein the non-blocking member is permanently attached to either the top or bottom portion of the blocking member.
28 . The trigger restriction device of claim 26 , wherein at least one end of the non-blocking member is permanently attached to the blocking member.
