Service recovery in a software defined network
Abstract
In one example, the present disclosure describes a device, computer-readable medium, and method for restoring local access elements in a software defined network (SDN) following service outages. For instance, in one example, a method includes retrieving, by a software defined networking local access element connected to a customer premises, configuration data and customer provisioning data from equipment located at the customer premises and initializing the software defined networking local access element with the configuration data and customer provisioning data to provide service to the customer premises.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising:
retrieving, by a software defined networking local access element connected to a customer premises, configuration data and customer provisioning data from equipment located at the customer premises; and initializing, by the software defined networking local access element, the software defined networking local access element with the configuration data and customer provisioning data to provide a service to the customer premises.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
prior to the retrieving, sending, by the software defined networking local access element, the configuration data and customer provisioning data to the equipment.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the sending is performed periodically.
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the sending is performed randomly.
5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the sending is performed automatically in response to the software defined networking local access element connecting to the equipment.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
prior to the retrieving, detecting, by the software defined networking local access element, a disruption in a connection between the software defined networking local access element and a software defined networking controller in a core network.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the connection is interrupted due to a loss of power by the software defined networking local access element.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the equipment located at the customer premises comprises a router.
9 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by a processor of a software defined networking local access element, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:
retrieving configuration data and customer provisioning data for a software defined networking local access element from equipment located at a customer premises; and initializing the software defined networking local access element with the configuration data and customer provisioning data to provide a service to the customer premises.
10 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise:
prior to the retrieving, sending the configuration data and customer provisioning data to the equipment.
11 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the sending is performed periodically.
12 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the sending is performed randomly.
13 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the sending is performed automatically in response to the software defined networking local access element connecting to the equipment.
14 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the operations further comprise:
prior to the retrieving, detecting a disruption in a connection between the software defined networking local access element and a software defined networking controller in a core network.
15 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the connection is interrupted due to a loss of power by the software defined networking local access element.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the equipment located at the customer premises comprises a router.
17 . A software defined networking local access element comprising:
a processor; and a computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:
retrieving configuration data and customer provisioning data for the software defined networking local access element from equipment located at a customer premises; and
initializing the software defined networking local access element with the configuration data and customer provisioning data to provide a service to the customer premises.
18 . The software defined networking local access element of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise:
prior to the retrieving, sending the configuration data and customer provisioning data to the equipment.
19 . The software defined networking local access element of claim 18 , wherein the sending comprises at least one of: being performed periodically, being performed randomly, or being performed automatically in response to the software defined networking local access element connecting to the equipment.
20 . The software defined networking local access element of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise:
prior to the retrieving, detecting a disruption in a connection between the software defined networking local access element and a software defined networking controller in a core network.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
