Preloaded content selection graph validation
Abstract
The described technology is generally directed towards validating content selection graphs for use in an in-memory content selection graph data store. When a content selection graph data is generated, the graph nodes can correspond to prebuilt response data. The response data for any of the nodes can be verified against rules based on the type of a node, for example, as well as based on client-specific information for types of clients. The overall validation process can validate the content selection graph for subsequent use, can result in errors or warnings being logged (which may or may not render the graph unusable, e.g., depending on severity), or can fail the content selection graph. If validated, the content selection graph can be used to rapidly return response data when content from the graph is requested.

1 . A system, comprising:
a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
obtaining content selection data of a graph node, the graph node associated with type information;
obtaining a validation rule set based on the type information;
determining whether the content selection data satisfies the rule set; and
in response to determining that the content selection data satisfies the rule set, validating the graph node for use as part of a content selection graph, and
in response to determining that the content selection data does not satisfy the rule set, obtaining violation data indicative of an inability of the content selection data to satisfy the rule set.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the validating the graph node for use in an in-memory data storage as part of a content selection graph results in the content selection graph having been processed for validation, and wherein the operations further comprise enabling the content selection graph for use in an in-memory data storage in association with a start time for serving response data from the content selection graph after reaching the start time.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise generating the content selection graph in the in-memory data storage, and wherein the determining whether the content selection data satisfies the rule set is performed in the in-memory data storage.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the content selection data does not satisfy the rule set, and wherein the operations further comprise determining whether to fail the graph based at least in part on the violation data, and in response to determining to fail the graph, halting the validation of further graph nodes and outputting a notification of a validation failure of the content selection graph.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the content selection data does not satisfy the rule set, and wherein the operations further comprise logging the violation data in association with an identifier of the graph node.
6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the violation data comprises at least one of: warning data or error data.
7 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the operations further comprise increasing a violation score based on the violation data, determining whether the violation score satisfies a violation score threshold level, and in response to determining that the violation score satisfies the violation score threshold level, halting the validation of further graph nodes and outputting a notification of a validation failure of the content selection graph.
8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the increasing of the violation score based on the violation data comprises determining weight data associated with the violation data, and increasing the violation score based on the weight data.
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the type information indicates a menu type graph node, a feature type graph node, or a series graph type node.
10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the validation rule set corresponds to at least one of: brand, channel, territory, device type, language or API version.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the obtaining the content selection data of the graph node comprises accessing a validation queue.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the obtaining the content selection data of the graph node comprises traversing the content selection graph.
13 . A method, comprising:
obtaining, by a system comprising a processor, content response data of a graph node, the content response data formatted based on client-specific information; obtaining, by the system, a validation rule set based on a type of the graph node and the client-specific information; evaluating, by the system, the content response data with respect to the validation rule set; and
in response to the evaluating indicating that the response data passed the evaluating, validating, by the system, the graph node for use in a content selection graph, and
in response to the evaluating indicating the response data did not pass the evaluating, taking action, by the system, that indicates the node has a validation violation issue.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the taking of the action that indicates the node has a validation violation issue comprises at least one of: logging an error or logging a warning.
15 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the taking of the action that indicates the node has a validation-related issue comprises failing the content selection graph.
16 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the obtaining the content response data of the graph node comprises traversing the content selection graph.
17 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the obtaining the content response data of the graph node comprises reading a node identifier of the graph node from a validation data structure, and accessing the graph node based on the node identifier.
18 . A machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
generating a content selection graph of nodes comprising response data in an in-memory data storage; and processing the content selection graph to attempt to validate the nodes, the processing comprising:
obtaining first response data for a first node in the graph;
obtaining a rule set associated with the first node;
determining whether the first response data passes the rule set; and
in response to determining that the first response data passes the rule set, validating the first node, and
in response to determining that the first response data does not pass the rule set, taking action that indicates that the first node has a validation-related issue.
19 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the operations further comprise determining, based on the processing of the content selection graph, that the content selection graph is a validated content selection graph, and enabling the validated content selection graph for use in serving the response data from the in-memory data storage.
