Claims

Abstract

A tobacco composition including tobacco material and an aerosol former material. The tobacco material includes a leaf tobacco having sugars and nicotine in a weight ratio of between about 8:1 and about 20:1, wherein said leaf tobacco having sugars and nicotine in a weight ratio of between about 8:1 and about 20:1 is present in the tobacco material in an amount of at least 5% by weight of the tobacco material.

A tobacco composition comprising tobacco material and an aerosol former material, wherein the tobacco material comprises a leaf tobacco comprising sugars and nicotine in a weight ratio of between about 8:1 and about 20:1, wherein said leaf tobacco comprising sugars and nicotine in a weight ratio of between about 8:1 and about 20:1 is present in the tobacco material in an amount of at least 5% by weight of the tobacco material. 
     
     
         2 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco composition comprises nicotine in an amount of between about 1% and about 2.5% by weight of the tobacco composition. 
     
     
         3 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the weight ratio of the sugars to nicotine in the leaf tobacco is between about 8:1 and about 15:1. 
     
     
         4 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco material comprises the leaf tobacco comprising sugars and nicotine in a weight ratio of between about 8:1 and about 20:1 in an amount of between about 30% and about 50% by weight of the tobacco material. 
     
     
         5 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the leaf tobacco comprising sugars and nicotine in a weight ratio of between about 8:1 and about 20:1 comprises the sugars in an amount of between about 5% and about 20% by weight of the leaf tobacco material. 
     
     
         6 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco composition comprises the aerosol-former material in an amount of between about 1% and about 10% by weight of the tobacco composition. 
     
     
         7 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco composition comprises the tobacco material in an amount of between about 20% and about 90% of the tobacco composition. 
     
     
         8 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco composition comprises the leaf tobacco comprising sugars and nicotine in a weight ratio of between about 8:1 and about 20:1 in an amount of between about 10% and about 60% by weight of the tobacco composition. 
     
     
         9 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco composition comprises an aerosolizable material. 
     
     
         10 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 9 , wherein the tobacco composition comprises the aerosolizable material in an amount of between about 1% and about 99%, between about 1% and about 50% or between about 30% and about 45% by weight of the tobacco composition. 
     
     
         11 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 9 , wherein the aerosolizable material comprises a binder. 
     
     
         12 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 9 , wherein the aerosolizable material comprises an inorganic material. 
     
     
         13 . A tobacco composition comprising a tobacco material and an aerosolizable material, wherein the aerosolizable material comprises an inorganic material, a binder and an aerosol-former material and wherein the tobacco composition comprises the aerosolizable material in an amount of between about 30% and about 45% by weight of the tobacco composition. 
     
     
         14 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 9 , wherein the aerosolisable material comprises the aerosol-former material in an amount of between about 10% and about 20% by weight of the aerosolizable material. 
     
     
         15 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 9 , wherein the tobacco composition comprises the aerosolizable material an amount of between about 35% and about 40% by weight of the tobacco composition. 
     
     
         16 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 12 , wherein the aerosolizable material comprises the inorganic material in an amount of at least about 50% by weight of the aerosolizable material. 
     
     
         17 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 9 , wherein the aerosolizable material comprises the binder in an amount of at least about 5% by weight of the aerosolizable material. 
     
     
         18 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the aerosol-former material is selected from the group consisting of: glycerol, sorbitol, propylene glycol, triethylene glycol, lactic acid, diacetin, triacetin, triethylene glycol diacetate, triethyl citrate, ethyl myristate, isopropyl myristate, methyl stearate, dimethyl dodecanedioate, dimethyl tetradecanedioate, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         19 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco material comprises dry ice expanded tobacco material. 
     
     
         20 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the leaf tobacco comprising sugars and nicotine in a weight ratio of between about 8:1 and about 20:1 is lower-stalk leaf tobacco. 
     
     
         21 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco material and/or the aerosolizable material is shredded and has a width of between about 0.01 and 1.5 mm. 
     
     
         22 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the aerosolizable material does not comprise additional colorants. 
     
     
         23 . A tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the tobacco composition comprises a flavor. 
     
     
         24 . A process of manufacturing a tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 13 , the process comprising:
 forming a slurry comprising the inorganic material, the binder and an aerosol-former material;   drying the slurry to form the aerosolizable material;   shredding the aerosolizable material to form a shredded aerosolizable material; and   combining the shredded aerosolizable material with the tobacco material.   
     
     
         25 . A delivery device comprising a tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1 . 
     
     
         26 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 25 , wherein the delivery device comprises an aerosol-modifying agent release component comprising an aerosol modifying agent. 
     
     
         27 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein the delivery device comprises a filter material comprising the aerosol-modifying agent release component. 
     
     
         28 . A delivery device according to  claim 27 , wherein the filter material comprises a filamentary tow or a cellulose based material. 
     
     
         29 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 25 , wherein the aerosol-modifying agent release component comprises a breakable capsules containing the aerosol modifying agent. 
     
     
         30 . A delivery device according to  claim 29 , wherein the capsule comprises a shell and an aerosol modifying agent enclosed within the shell. 
     
     
         31 . A delivery device according to  claim 29 , wherein the capsule is substantially spherical in shape. 
     
     
         32 . A delivery device according to  claim 29 , wherein the capsule has a diameter in the range 2 mm to 4 mm. 
     
     
         33 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein the aerosol-modifying release component comprises a plurality of breakable capsules containing the aerosol modifying agent. 
     
     
         34 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 33 , wherein the aerosol modifying agent in one or more capsule of the plurality of breakable capsules differs from the aerosol modifying agent in another capsule of the plurality of capsules. 
     
     
         35 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 33 , wherein the aerosol modifying agent in each capsule of the plurality of capsules is different to the aerosol modifying agent in each of the other capsules of the plurality of capsules. 
     
     
         36 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 33 , wherein the aerosol modifying agent in each capsules of the plurality of capsules is identical to the aerosol modifying agent in each of the other capsules of the plurality of capsules. 
     
     
         37 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein the aerosol modifying agent is a liquid. 
     
     
         38 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 27 , wherein the filamentary tow comprises a total denier in the range 8,000 to 40,000. 
     
     
         39 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 28 , wherein the filamentary tow comprises a denier per filament in the range 5 to 12. 
     
     
         40 . A delivery device as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein the aerosol modifying agent release component is a wrapper comprising the aerosol modifying agent. 
     
     
         41 . Use of a tobacco composition as claimed in  claim 1  in a delivery system.
