Abstract

A shock absorber includes a base structure and a shock-absorbing rib structure. The base structure has a space to accommodate an object to be packaged. The shock-absorbing rib structure is disposed on a face of the base structure. The shock-absorbing rib structure includes a main buffer and an auxiliary buffer. The main buffer is supported by the base structure and has a cubic or rectangular parallelepiped shape. The auxiliary buffer is supported by the base structure at opposed ends of the auxiliary buffer and apart from the base structure between the opposed ends of the auxiliary buffer.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A shock absorber comprising:
a base structure having a space to accommodate an object to be packaged; and a shock-absorbing rib structure on a face of the base structure, the shock-absorbing rib structure including:
a main buffer supported by the base structure and having a cubic or rectangular parallelepiped shape; and
an auxiliary buffer supported by the base structure at opposed ends of the auxiliary buffer and apart from the base structure between the opposed ends of the auxiliary buffer.

2 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the shock-absorbing rib structure further includes, on the face of the base structure, at least one of a plurality of main buffers including the main buffer or a plurality of auxiliary buffers including the auxiliary buffer.

3 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the main buffer and the auxiliary buffer are disposed on a plurality of faces of the base structure.

4 . The shock absorber according to claim 3 ,
wherein each of the main buffer and the auxiliary buffer is disposed on five faces of the base structure.

5 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the shock-absorbing rib structure further includes another auxiliary buffer, and wherein the main buffer is interposed between the auxiliary buffer and said another auxiliary buffer on a common face of the base structure.

6 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the shock-absorbing rib structure further includes another main buffer, and wherein the auxiliary buffer is interposed between the main buffer and said another main buffer on a common face of the base structure.

7 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the base structure and the shock-absorbing rib structure include a stack of plate-shaped members.

8 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
 wherein the auxiliary buffer includes:
two supports disposed perpendicular to the face of the base structure; and
a beam supported by the two supports and disposed parallel to and apart from the face of the base structure.

9 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the auxiliary buffer includes two intersecting supports inclined with respect to the face of the base structure.

10 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
 wherein the auxiliary buffer includes:
two supports inclined with respect to the face of the base structure; and
a beam supported by the two supports and disposed parallel to the face of the base structure.

11 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of auxiliary buffers including the auxiliary buffer,
wherein the plurality of auxiliary buffers is disposed continuously in a longitudinal direction of the plurality of auxiliary buffers.

12 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the main buffer supported by the base structure includes a pair of opposed side faces with a gradient, and wherein the main buffer includes a bottom face supported by the base structure and having a greater area than an area of an upper face of the main buffer.

13 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the base structure has an opening directly below the auxiliary buffer in a vertical direction.

14 . The shock absorber according to claim 1 ,
wherein the base structure and the shock-absorbing rib structure are made of foamed resin.

         15 . A shock absorber comprising:
a planar base structure; and a shock-absorbing rib structure disposed on a face of the base structure to be attached to an object to be packaged, in contact with the object to be packaged, the shock-absorbing rib structure including:
a main buffer supported by the base structure and having a cubic or rectangular parallelepiped shape; and
an auxiliary buffer supported by the base structure at opposed ends of the auxiliary buffer and apart from the base structure between the opposed ends of the auxiliary buffer.

         16 . A packaging system comprising:
an object to be packaged; the shock absorber according to claim 1 ; and a packaging material configured to pack the object with the shock absorber attached.
