Abstract

In general, embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods and computer readable media for a defining and executing state machines that act based on messages received on a message queue.

         21 . An apparatus, comprising one or more processors and one or more storage devices storing instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more processors, to cause the one or more processors to:
 monitor a message queue using a first state machine for a first event with respect to messages from the message queue;   monitor the message queue using a second state machine for a second event with respect to the messages from the message queue, wherein at least one of the first event and the second event is associated with a user computing device;   in response to identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 generate a first electronic communication based on first executable code associated with the first state machine; and 
 transmit the first electronic communication to the user computing device; and 
   in response to identification of the second event based on the monitoring using the second state machine,
 generate a second electronic communication and update user profile data for a user identifier associated with the user computing device based on second executable code associated with the second state machine; and 
 transmit the second electronic communication to the user computing device, wherein at least one of the first electronic communication and the second electronic communication is renderable via a display of the user computing device. 
   
     
     
         22 . The apparatus of  claim 21 , wherein the one or more storage devices store instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more processors, to further cause the one or more processors to:
 in response to the identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 access a first application programming interface (API) to execute the first executable code; and 
   in response to the identification of the second event based on the monitoring using the second state machine,
 access a second API to execute the second executable code. 
   
     
     
         23 . The apparatus of  claim 21 , wherein the one or more storage devices store instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more processors, to further cause the one or more processors to:
 in response to the identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 perform an action defined within an application programming interface (API) accessible to the first state machine. 
   
     
     
         24 . The apparatus of  claim 21 , wherein the one or more storage devices store instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more processors, to further cause the one or more processors to:
 in response to the identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 generate first content for the first electronic communication based on the first event. 
   
     
     
         25 . The apparatus of  claim 21 , wherein the one or more storage devices store instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more processors, to further cause the one or more processors to:
 in response to the identification of the second event based on the monitoring using the second state machine,
 generate second content for the second electronic communication based on the second event. 
   
     
     
         26 . The apparatus of  claim 21 , wherein at least one of the first event and the second event is defined by the user identifier associated with a user computing device. 
     
     
         27 . The apparatus of  claim 21 , wherein at least one of the first event and the second event is defined by a merchant computing device. 
     
     
         28 . The apparatus of  claim 21 , wherein at least one of the first event and the second event is defined by a server system. 
     
     
         29 . The apparatus of  claim 21 , wherein at least one of the first event and the second event is defined via a dashboard interface of the user computing device or another computing device. 
     
     
         30 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
 monitoring, by a computing device comprising a processor, a message queue using a first state machine for a first event with respect to messages from the message queue;   monitoring, by the computing device, the message queue using a second state machine for a second event with respect to the messages from the message queue, wherein at least one of the first event and the second event is associated with a user computing device;   in response to identification of the second event based on the monitoring using the second state machine,
 generating, by the computing device, an electronic communication based on second executable code associated with the second state machine; 
 updating, by the computing device, user profile data for a user identifier associated with the user computing device based on the second executable code associated with the second state machine; and 
 transmitting, by the computing device, the electronic communication to the user computing device, wherein the electronic communication is renderable via a display of the user computing device. 
   
     
     
         31 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 30 , wherein the electronic communication is a first electronic communication, and the computer-implemented method further comprising:
 in response to identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 generating, by the computing device, a second electronic communication based on first executable code associated with the first state machine; and 
 transmitting, by the computing device, the second electronic communication to the user computing device. 
   
     
     
         32 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 31 , further comprising:
 in response to the identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 accessing, by the computing device, a first application programming interface (API) to execute the first executable code. 
   
     
     
         33 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 32 , further comprising:
 in response to the identification of the second event based on the monitoring using the second state machine,
 accessing, by the computing device, a second API to execute the second executable code. 
   
     
     
         34 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 30 , further comprising:
 in response to the identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 performing, by the computing device, an action defined within an application programming interface (API) accessible to the first state machine. 
   
     
     
         35 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 30 , wherein the electronic communication is a first electronic communication, and the computer-implemented method further comprising:
 in response to the identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 generating, by the computing device, first content for a second electronic communication based on the first event. 
   
     
     
         36 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 30 , further comprising:
 in response to the identification of the second event based on the monitoring using the second state machine,
 generating, by the computing device, second content for the electronic communication based on the second event. 
   
     
     
         37 . A computer program product, stored on a computer readable medium, comprising instructions that when executed by one or more computers cause the one or more computers to:
 monitor a message queue using a first state machine for a first event with respect to messages from the message queue;   monitor the message queue using a second state machine for a second event with respect to the messages from the message queue, wherein at least one of the first event and the second event is associated with a user computing device;   in response to identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 generate a first electronic communication based on first executable code associated with the first state machine; and 
 transmit the first electronic communication to the user computing device; and 
   in response to identification of the second event based on the monitoring using the second state machine,
 generate a second electronic communication and update user profile data for a user identifier associated with the user computing device based on second executable code associated with the second state machine; and 
 transmit the second electronic communication to the user computing device, wherein at least one of the first electronic communication and the second electronic communication is renderable via a display of the user computing device. 
   
     
     
         38 . The computer program product of  claim 37 , further comprising instructions that when executed by the one or more computers cause the one or more computers to:
 in response to the identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 access a first application programming interface (API) to execute the first executable code; and 
   in response to the identification of the second event based on the monitoring using the second state machine,
 access a second API to execute the first executable code. 
   
     
     
         39 . The computer program product of  claim 37 , further comprising instructions that when executed by the one or more computers cause the one or more computers to:
 in response to the identification of the first event based on the monitoring using the first state machine,
 perform an action defined within an application programming interface (API) accessible to the first state machine. 
   
     
     
         40 . The computer program product of  claim 37 , wherein at least one of the first event and the second event is defined via a dashboard interface of the user computing device or another computing device.
