Abstract
Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for web activity concealment. A system can include a memory storing instructions that, upon execution by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations. The system can be communicatively coupled to a network. The operations can include detecting a network message that is directed to a target source, where the network message is generated by a client application of a machine-to-machine device. The operations can include identifying, based on the network message, a client action that is associated with the client application. The operations can include counterpoising the client action by generating a supplemental action command. The operations can include providing the supplemental action command to the machine-to-machine device.

a processor; and a memory that stores computer-executable instructions comprising a client application and a personal content generator that, in response to being executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
generating, via the client application, a network message based on a client action, wherein the network message is associated with a target source,
detecting, via the personal content generator, the network message generated by the client application,
identifying, via the personal content generator, the target source associated with the network message,
providing, via the personal content generator, information to a network service informing the network service of the target source associated with the network message,
receiving, via the personal content generator, a supplemental action command from the network service, wherein the supplemental action command instructs the personal content generator to initiate implementation of a supplemental client action, and
initiating, via the personal content generator, implementation of the supplemental client action, wherein implementation of the supplemental client action causes generation of a supplemental network message that counterpoises the client action, wherein transmission of the network message is withheld until after generation of the supplemental network message, and wherein transmission of the supplemental network message by the client application occurs prior to transmission of the network message by the client application.

The device of claim 1 , wherein the client action comprises at least one of requesting content from the target source, instantiating a tracking marker associated with the target source, retrieving content from the target source, and indicating a preference corresponding to content provided by the target source.
3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the network message comprises a network address corresponding to a target server that is associated with the target source, and wherein the supplemental network message is directed to an alternate source.
4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise monitoring, by the personal content generator, an application programming interface of the client application to detect the network message generated by the client application.

The device of claim 1 , wherein the supplemental client action comprises at least one of launching queries that indicate a search term that is unassociated with content requested by the network message, requesting content from a source that is alternate the target source associated with the network message, or forcing indication of a preference that is contrary to a prior preference indication.
6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise instructing, by the personal content generator, the client application to suppress presentation of any content received in response to the supplemental network message.
7 . The device of claim 6 , wherein suppressing presentation of any content received in response to the supplemental network message comprises causing the client application to run as a background task without presenting a user interface to a user of the device.
8 . A method comprising:
generating, by a client application of a device comprising a processor, a network message based on a client action, wherein the network message is associated with a target source; detecting, by a personal content generator of the device, the network message generated by the client application; identifying, by the personal content generator, the target source associated with the network message; providing, by the personal content generator, information to a network service informing the network service of the target source associated with the network message; receiving, by the personal content generator, a supplemental action command from the network service, wherein the supplemental action command instructs the personal content generator to initiate implementation of a supplemental client action; and initiating, by the personal content generator, implementation of the supplemental client action, wherein implementation of the supplemental client action causes generation of a supplemental network message that counterpoises the client action, wherein transmission of the network message is withheld until after generation of the supplemental network message, and wherein transmission of the supplemental network message by the client application occurs prior to transmission of the network message by the client application.

The method of claim 8 , wherein the client action comprises at least one of requesting content from the target source, instantiating a tracking marker associated with the target source, retrieving content from the target source, and indicating a preference corresponding to content provided by the target source.
10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the network message comprises a network address corresponding to a target server that is associated with the target source, and wherein the supplemental network message is directed to an alternate source.
11 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising monitoring, by the personal content generator, an application programming interface of the client application to detect the network message generated by the client application.

The method of claim 8 , wherein the supplemental client action comprises at least one of launching queries that indicate a search term that is unassociated with content requested by the network message, requesting content from a source that is alternate the target source associated with the network message, or forcing indication of a preference that is contrary to a prior preference indication.
13 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising instructing, by the personal content generator, the client application to suppress presentation of any content received in response to the supplemental network message.

15 . A computer storage medium having computer-executable instructions comprising a client application and a personal content generator stored thereon that, in response to execution by a processor of a device, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
generating, via the client application, a network message based on a client action, wherein the network message is associated with a target source; detecting, via the personal content generator, the network message generated by the client application; identifying, by the personal content generator, the target source associated with the network message; providing, by the personal content generator, information to a network service informing the network service of the target source associated with the network message; receiving, by the personal content generator, a supplemental action command from the network service, wherein the supplemental action command instructs the personal content generator to initiate implementation of a supplemental client action; and initiating, by the personal content generator, implementation of the supplemental client action, wherein implementation of the supplemental client action causes generation of a supplemental network message that counterpoises the client action, wherein transmission of the network message is withheld until after generation of the supplemental network message, and wherein transmission of the supplemental network message by the client application occurs prior to transmission of the network message by the client application.

The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the client action comprises at least one of requesting content from the target source, instantiating a tracking marker associated with the target source, retrieving content from the target source, and indicating a preference corresponding to content provided by the target source.
17 . The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the network message comprises a network address corresponding to a target server that is associated with the target source, and wherein the supplemental network message is directed to an alternate source.
18 . The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise monitoring, via the personal content generator, an application programming interface of the client application to detect the network message generated by the client application.
