Methods, systems, and devices for providing augmented reality content based on user engagement
Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, embodiments that include receiving video content over a communication network, and determining a point of interest in relation to a presentation of the video content via equipment utilized by a user. Further embodiments can include identifying an object in the video content according to the point of interest, and obtaining information associated with the object. Additional embodiments can include generating first augmented reality content based on the video content and the information associated with the object, and providing the first augmented reality content to a communication device. The communication device presents the first augmented reality content. Other embodiments are disclosed.

5 . The device of claim 3 , wherein the AR communication device receives second user-generated input that includes second social media content, wherein the AR communication device presents the second social media content within the social media chat window.
6 . The device of claim 3 , wherein the operations comprise:
obtaining a second target advertisement associated with the video content; and providing the second target advertisement to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication device presents the second target advertisement within the social media chat window on the display screen of the AR communication device.
7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations comprise:
receiving third user-generated input that indicates a request for a change in perspective of the object; and generating third AR content based on the third user-generated input.
8 . The device of claim 7 , wherein the operations comprise providing the third AR content to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication devices presents the third AR content on the display screen of the AR communication device.
9 . A non-transitory, machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
detecting user gaze in viewing a presentation of video content through a display screen of an augmented reality (AR) communication device associated with a user, wherein a media processor obtains the video content over a communication network, wherein the media processor presents the video content on a display device separate from the display screen of the AR communication device; identifying an object in the video content based on the user gaze; obtaining a first target advertisement associated with the object; generating first AR content based on the video content, the object, and the first target advertisement associated with the object; and providing the first AR content and the first target advertisement to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication device presents the first AR content and the first target advertisement simultaneously with the video content on the display screen of the AR communication device.
10 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the operations comprise:
obtaining information associated with the object; generating second AR content based on the information; and providing the second AR content to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication device presents the second AR content simultaneously with the video content on the display screen of the AR communication device.
11 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the operations comprise:
receiving first user-generated input that indicates a request for a social media chat window; generating third AR content that includes the social media chat window; and providing the third AR content to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication device presents the third AR content on the display screen of the AR communication device.
12 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the operations comprise:
obtaining first social media content from a social media server; and providing the first social media content to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication device presents the first social media content within the social media chat window.
13 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the AR communication device receives second user-generated input that includes second social media content, wherein the AR communication device presents the second social media content within the social media chat window.
14 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the operations comprise:
obtaining a second target advertisement associated with the video content; and providing the second target advertisement to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication device presents the second target advertisement within the social media chat window on the display screen of the AR communication device.
15 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the operations comprise:
receiving third user-generated input that indicates a request for a change in perspective of the object; and generating fourth AR content based on the third user-generated input.
16 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations comprise providing the fourth AR content to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication devices presents the fourth AR content on the display screen of the AR communication device.
17 . A method, comprising:
detecting, by a processing system including a processor, user gaze in viewing a presentation of video content through a display screen of an augmented reality (AR) communication device associated with a user, wherein a media processor obtains the video content over a communication network, wherein the media processor presents the video content on a display device separate from the display screen of the AR communication device; identifying, by the processing system, an object in the video content based on the user gaze; obtaining, by the processing system, first information associated with the object; generating, by the processing system, first AR content based on the video content, the object, and the first information associated with the object; wherein the first AR content highlights the object based on the user gaze; and providing, by the processing system, the first AR content to the AR communication device, wherein the AR communication device presents the first AR content simultaneously with the video content on the display screen of the AR communication device.
