Claims

Abstract

Asynchronous multi-point transmission techniques for MIMO networks are provided. An example method comprises receiving, by a device comprising a processor, a first data signal from a first TP device of a wireless communication network, wherein the first data signal comprises first code-word information generated based on a data. The method further comprises receiving, by the device, a second data signal from a second TP device of the wireless communication network, wherein the second data signal comprises second code-word generated based on the data, wherein the first code-word information and the second-code word information are different, and wherein the first TP device and the second TP device are geographically separated by a threshold distance. The device can further process the first data signal and the second data signal to generate a unified data signal representative of the data.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method, comprising:
 facilitating, by a first transmission point device comprising a processor, receiving spatial layer assignment information from a device that identifies first spatial layers for first usage by the first transmission point device that are different from second spatial layers for second usage by a second transmission point device in association with respective transmissions of data to the device by the first transmission point device and the second transmission point device in accordance with a multi-point transmission protocol; and   facilitating, by the first transmission point device, transmitting a first portion of the data to the device using the first spatial layers.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the spatial layer assignment information ensures that the respective transmissions satisfy a rank capacity of the device. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein transmitting the first portion of the data comprises transmitting the first portion without coordination with respect to the second transmission point device transmitting a second portion of the data. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the respective transmissions comprise different codewords. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the respective transmissions employ different physical resource block configurations. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the different physical resource block configurations are non-overlapping. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 facilitating, by the first transmission point device, receiving resource block allocation information from the device that identifies first physical resource blocks for the first usage by the first transmission point device that are different from second physical resource blocks for the second usage by the second transmission point device in association with the respective transmissions.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein transmitting the first portion comprises transmitting the first portion using the first physical resource blocks. 
     
     
         9 . A first transmission point, comprising:
 a processor; and   a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
 receiving spatial layer assignment information from a device that identifies first spatial layers for usage by the first transmission point that are different from second spatial layers for usage by a second transmission point in association with respective transmissions of data to the device by the first transmission point and the second transmission point in accordance with a multi-point transmission protocol; and 
 transmitting a portion of the data to the device using the first spatial layers. 
   
     
     
         10 . The first transmission point of  claim 9 , wherein the spatial layer assignment information was generated to ensure that the respective transmissions satisfy a rank capacity determined to be applicable to the device. 
     
     
         11 . The first transmission point of  claim 9 , wherein transmitting the portion of the data comprises transmitting the portion without knowledge of transmission by the second transmission point. 
     
     
         12 . The first transmission point of  claim 9 , wherein the respective transmissions comprise different codewords. 
     
     
         13 . The first transmission point of  claim 9 , wherein the respective transmissions are configured to be transmitted using different physical resource blocks. 
     
     
         14 . The first transmission point of  claim 13 , wherein the different physical resource blocks are non-overlapping. 
     
     
         15 . The first transmission point of  claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 receiving resource block allocation information from the device that identifies first physical resource blocks for usage by the first transmission point that are different from second physical resource blocks for usage by the second transmission point in association with the respective transmissions.   
     
     
         16 . The first transmission point of  claim 15 , wherein transmitting the portion comprises transmitting the portion using the first physical resource blocks. 
     
     
         17 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor associated with first transmission point equipment, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
 receiving spatial layer assignment information from a device that identifies first spatial layers for usage by the first transmission point equipment that are different from second spatial layers for usage by second transmission point equipment in association with respective transmissions of data to the device by the first transmission point equipment and the second transmission point equipment in accordance with a multi-point transmission protocol; and   sending a portion of the data to the device using the first spatial layers.   
     
     
         18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 17 , wherein the spatial layer assignment information is specified to result in the respective transmissions satisfying a function of a rank capacity of the device. 
     
     
         19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 17 , wherein sending the portion of the data comprises sending the portion without coordination with the second transmission point equipment. 
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 17 , wherein the respective transmissions are communicated employing different physical resource block configurations.
