What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A hat spacer comprising:
 a foam pad and   an attachment means adhered thereto;   wherein said attachment means is operative to removably attach the hat spacer to a sweatband component of a hat; and   wherein the attachment means is selected from the group consisting of clip, adhesive, hook and loop closure, and combinations thereof.
