Abstract

This present disclosure describes a computer-implemented method for updating a plurality of parameters on a medical inhaler sensor via a wireless connection by a client device. The client device stores the plurality of parameters for the medical inhaler sensor on the client device. The client device updates one or more parameters of the plurality of parameters on the client device. The client device receives a plurality of periodic chirps from the medical inhaler sensor, and can establish the wireless connection with the medical inhaler sensor in response to having received a chirp. Through the wireless connection, the client device transmits the updated one or more parameters of the plurality of parameters to the medical inhaler sensor.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 receiving, at the client device, a ping from the medical inhaler sensor;   responsive to receiving the ping, determining whether the client device initiated a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor;   responsive to determining the client device initiated a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor, forming, a wireless connection between the medical inhaler sensor and the client device;   transmitting, by the wireless connection, the request to the medical inhaler sensor;   receiving, at the client device, location information from the medical inhaler sensor, the location information determined by the medical inhaler sensor upon receipt of the of the request from the client device; and   responsive to receiving the location information from the medical inhaler sensor, terminating the wireless connection.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the wireless connection is a Bluetooth Low Energy connection. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the ping is received at the client device at a periodic interval. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the periodic interval is adjusted between one or more of the following:
 an interval between 1 second and 60 seconds;   an interval between 1 second and 15 seconds;   an interval between 10 centiseconds and 100 centiseconds; and   an interval between 10 milliseconds and 100 milliseconds.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 responsive to determining the client device did not initiate a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor, monitoring for a subsequent ping from the medical inhaler sensor.   
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the sensor comprises a GPS receiver and records GPS locations of the medical inhaler sensor in response to receiving the request from the client device. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the sensor comprises an audio unit and plays an audio tune in response to receiving the request from the client device. 
     
     
         8 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions encoded thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
 receive, at the client device, a ping from the medical inhaler sensor;   responsive to receiving the ping, determine whether the client device initiated a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor;   responsive to determining the client device initiated a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor, form, a wireless connection between the medical inhaler sensor and the client device;   transmit, by the wireless connection, the request to the medical inhaler sensor;   receive, at the client device, location information from the medical inhaler sensor, the location information determined by the medical inhaler sensor upon receipt of the of the request from the client device; and   responsive to receiving the location information from the medical inhaler sensor, terminating the wireless connection.   
     
     
         9 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of  claim 8 , wherein the wireless connection is a Bluetooth Low Energy connection. 
     
     
         10 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of  claim 8 , wherein the ping is received at the client device at a periodic interval. 
     
     
         11 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the periodic interval is adjusted between one or more of the following:
 an interval between 1 second and 60 seconds;   an interval between 1 second and 15 seconds;   an interval between 10 centiseconds and 100 centiseconds; and   an interval between 10 milliseconds and 100 milliseconds.   
     
     
         12 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 responsive to determining the client device did not initiate a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor, monitoring for a subsequent ping from the medical inhaler sensor.   
     
     
         13 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of  claim 8 , wherein the sensor comprises a GPS receiver and records GPS locations of the medical inhaler sensor in response to receiving the request from the client device. 
     
     
         14 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of  claim 8 , wherein the sensor comprises an audio unit and plays an audio tune in response to receiving the request from the client device. 
     
     
         15 . A system comprising:
 a medical inhaler that dispenses medication to a user, the medical inhaler sensor comprising a medical inhaler sensor for wirelessly connecting to client devices;   a client device that presents content to the user of the medical inhaler, the client device configured to:
 receive a ping from the medical inhaler sensor; 
 responsive to receiving the ping, determine whether the client device initiated a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor; 
 responsive to determining the client device initiated a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor, form, a wireless connection between the medical inhaler sensor and the client device; 
 transmit, by the wireless connection, the request to the medical inhaler sensor; 
 receive, at the client device, location information from the medical inhaler sensor, the location information determined by the medical inhaler sensor upon receipt of the of the request from the client device; and 
 responsive to receiving the location information from the medical inhaler sensor, terminating the wireless connection. 
   
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein the wireless connection is a Bluetooth Low Energy connection. 
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein the ping is received at the client device at a periodic interval. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein the client device monitors for a subsequent ping from the medical inhaler sensor in response to determining the client device did not initiate a request for locating the medical inhaler sensor. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein the medical inhaler sensor comprises a GPS receiver and records GPS locations of the medical inhaler sensor in response to receiving the request from the client device. 
     
     
         20 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein the medical inhaler sensor comprises an audio unit and plays an audio tune in response to receiving the request from the client device.
