Abstract

A patient control is disclosed that facilitates operation of an implantable medical device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

         21 . A system comprising:
a first device that stores usage information of a therapy delivered by an implantable medical device to a patient; and a second device including a therapy manager that is configured to titrate therapy settings selected by a titration protocol by sending a control signal to the implantable medical device after analysis of the usage information received from the first device via a network.

22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the first device is a device external to the patient that communicates with the implantable medical device via a local, wireless connection.

23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the usage information includes one or more of details regarding times of use, duration of use, and number of days used.

24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the therapy settings is at least one of an upper allowable therapy limit and a lower allowable therapy intensity limit.

25 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the implantable medical device includes a pulse generator.

26 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the first device includes a user interface.

27 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the control signal is configured to be sent from the therapy manager to the first device and then from the first device to the implantable medical device.

28 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the control signal limits use of the first device.

29 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the first device is a patient remote control configured to selectively communicate commands to the implantable medical device.

30 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the therapy manager is configured to automatically titrate the therapy settings via the titration protocol.

31 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the second device is configured to present the usage information to a clinician, physician, or care manager; further wherein the second device comprises a control portion including the therapy manager.

32 . The system of claim 31 , wherein second device comprises a web-based portal accessible via a cloud computing resource.

33 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the second device comprises at least one of a clinician programming device or a clinician web-based portal accessible via cloud computing resource.

34 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the therapy settings are titrated based on at least one of implantable medical device data and use of the first device.

35 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the first device includes an input that enables the patient to provide input to the automatic titration protocol.

         36 . A system comprising:
a first device being a patient remote control that stores usage information of a therapy delivered by an implantable medical device to a patient; and a second device including a therapy manager that is configured to titrate therapy settings selected by a titration protocol by sending a control signal to the implantable medical device after analysis of the usage information received from the first device via a network; wherein the control signal is configured to be sent from the therapy manager to the patient remote and then from the patient remote to the implantable medical device.

37 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the therapy manager is configured to automatically titrate the therapy settings via the titration protocol.

38 . The system of claim 36 , wherein second device comprises a web-based portal accessible via a cloud computing resource.

39 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the first device includes an input that enables the patient to provide input to the automatic titration protocol.

40 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the usage information includes one or more of details regarding times of use, duration of use, and number of days used.
