Method and apparatus for identifying trending promotions
Abstract
A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for generation of analytic data. An example embodiment includes a method for identifying trending items based on electronically generated velocity metrics derived from transaction data. The method includes performing at least one electronic transaction between a consumer and the promotion and marketing service to offer, via the electronic transaction, at least one promotion to the consumer, storing a set of transaction data in a memory, the set of transaction data comprising electronic data indicating the at least one transaction, determining, via processing circuitry, one or more velocity metrics for a plurality of promotions from the set of transaction data, determining at least one trending promotion from the plurality of promotions based on the velocity metrics, generating, via the processing circuitry, an electronic communication comprising the at least one trending promotion, and transmitting, via communications circuitry, the electronic communication.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 32 . (canceled)
33 . An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to:
generate transaction data based on at least one electronic transaction completed using a client device; determine, based on the transaction data, a number of particular time periods for use in determining one or more velocity metrics for each promotion of a plurality of promotions, wherein the number of particular time periods is less than a number of time periods of an expected lifetime of the promotion; determine the one or more velocity metrics for each promotion of the plurality of promotions, wherein the one or more velocity metrics comprise a change in a rate of previously performed transactions associated with the promotion over the number of particular time periods, determine, based on the one or more velocity metrics, a plurality of trending promotions from the plurality of promotions, wherein a promotion is identified as a trending promotion in response to the promotion having a change in a rate of transactions greater than a threshold value; filter the plurality of trending promotions to remove those promotions that are determined to be one or more of likely to sell through available quantity before an expiration of the promotion or are near an expiration of the promotion; generate an electronic communication for display via the client device, the electronic communication comprising at least one trending promotion from the plurality of trending promotions; and transmit the electronic communication to the client device.
34 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein the plurality of trending promotions represents a subset of the plurality of promotions.
35 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein a particular time period comprises one or more of day over day, hour over hour, or week over week.
36 . The apparatus of claim 35 , wherein the change of rate comprises increases or decreases in transactions associated with the promotion.
37 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein the electronic transaction comprises purchase of at least one promotion by the client device.
38 . The apparatus of claim 37 , wherein the electronic transaction further comprises issuing an instrument to the client device that may be used toward at least a portion of a future purchase of one or more of goods, services, and experiences defined by the at least one promotion.
39 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein a promotion is identified as a trending promotion further based at least in part on the trending promotion being associated with at least one of a particular location or a particular category.
40 . The apparatus of claim 39 , wherein the at least one trending promotion is determined in response to receiving a trending promotion inquiry.
41 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
generating transaction data based on at least one electronic transaction completed using a client device; determining, based on the transaction data, a number of particular time periods for use in determining one or more velocity metrics for each promotion of a plurality of promotions, wherein the number of particular time periods is less than a number of time periods of an expected lifetime of the promotion; determining the one or more velocity metrics for each promotion of the plurality of promotions, wherein the one or more velocity metrics comprise a change in a rate of previously performed transactions associated with the promotion over the number of particular time periods, determining, based on the one or more velocity metrics, a plurality of trending promotions from the plurality of promotions, wherein a promotion is identified as a trending promotion in response to the promotion having a change in a rate of transactions greater than a threshold value; filtering the plurality of trending promotions to remove those promotions that are determined to be one or more of likely to sell through available quantity before an expiration of the promotion or are near an expiration of the promotion; generating an electronic communication for display via the client device, the electronic communication comprising at least one trending promotion from the plurality of trending promotions; and transmitting the electronic communication to the client device.
42 . The method of claim 41 , wherein the plurality of trending promotions represents a subset of the plurality of promotions.
43 . The method of claim 41 , wherein a particular time period comprises one or more of day over day, hour over hour, or week over week.
44 . The method of claim 43 , wherein the change of rate comprises increases or decreases in transactions associated with the promotion.
45 . The method of claim 41 , wherein the electronic transaction comprises purchase of at least one promotion by the client device.
46 . The method of claim 45 , wherein the electronic transaction further comprises issuing an instrument to the client device that may be used toward at least a portion of a future purchase of one or more of goods, services, and experiences defined by the at least one promotion.
47 . The method of claim 41 , wherein a promotion is identified as a trending promotion further based at least in part on the trending promotion being associated with at least one of a particular location or a particular category.
48 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the at least one trending promotion is determined in response to receiving a trending promotion inquiry.
49 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by at least one processor of an apparatus, cause the apparatus to:
generate transaction data based on at least one electronic transaction completed using a client device; determine, based on the transaction data, a number of particular time periods for use in determining one or more velocity metrics for each promotion of a plurality of promotions, wherein the number of particular time periods is less than a number of time periods of an expected lifetime of the promotion; determine the one or more velocity metrics for each promotion of the plurality of promotions, wherein the one or more velocity metrics comprise a change in a rate of previously performed transactions associated with the promotion over the number of particular time periods, determine, based on the one or more velocity metrics, a plurality of trending promotions from the plurality of promotions, wherein a promotion is identified as a trending promotion in response to the promotion having a change in a rate of transactions greater than a threshold value; filter the plurality of trending promotions to remove those promotions that are determined to be one or more of likely to sell through available quantity before an expiration of the promotion or are near an expiration of the promotion; generate an electronic communication for display via the client device, the electronic communication comprising at least one trending promotion from the plurality of trending promotions; and transmit the electronic communication to the client device.
50 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 49 , wherein the plurality of trending promotions represents a subset of the plurality of promotions.
51 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 49 , wherein a particular time period comprises one or more of day over day, hour over hour, or week over week.
52 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 49 , wherein the change of rate comprises increases or decreases in transactions associated with the promotion.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
