Wall-mountable collectible display case

Abstract

A display case stores collectibles each having a standard height and a standard width. The case has a front layer, a foam layer, and a back layer. A plurality of openings are located in the front layer and the foam layer, the height and width of each opening being configured to receive one of the collectibles. One or more mounting holes are accessible via one of the openings.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A display case for storing collectibles each having a standard height and a standard width, the case comprising:
 a front layer;   a foam layer;   a back layer;   a plurality of openings in the front layer and the foam layer, the height and width of each opening being configured to receive one of the collectibles; and   one or more mounting holes in the back layer and foam layer that are each accessible via one of the openings.   
     
     
         2 . The display case of  claim 1 , wherein the collectibles have a standard height and the height of each opening is 5-8 percent greater than the standard height of the collectibles. 
     
     
         3 . The display case of  claim 1 , wherein the collectibles have a standard height and the height of each opening is 6-7 percent greater than the standard height of the collectibles. 
     
     
         4 . The display case of  claim 1 , wherein the height of each opening is 1-2 percent greater than a height of a collectible protector configured to receive and store one of the collectibles. 
     
     
         5 . The display case of  claim 1 , wherein the foam layer is pliable to allow the collectibles to be inserted into each of the plurality of openings. 
     
     
         6 . The display case of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the collectibles have a standard depth;   each of the plurality of openings have a depth that is less than the standard depth of the collectibles such that each collectible cantilevers out of the display case when placed into one of the plurality of openings.   
     
     
         7 . The display case of  claim 1 , wherein the openings partially extend into the foam layer. 
     
     
         8 . The display case of  claim 7 , wherein the openings extend fully through the front layer. 
     
     
         9 . A display case for storing collectibles each having a standard height and a standard width, the case comprising:
 a lightweight foam layer having a front surface and a rear surface;   a plurality of foam openings that partially extend into said foam layer, wherein the height, width and depth of each opening are configured to receive one of the collectibles by a friction fit;   a front layer formed of a thin rigid material sheet;   a plurality of front layer openings that extend through said front layer, wherein said front layer is coupled to the front surface of said foam layer and each of said plurality of front layer openings align with a respective one of said plurality of foam openings; and   a back layer formed of a continuous thin rigid material sheet, said back layer coupled to the rear surface of said foam layer.   
     
     
         10 . The display case of  claim 9 , said foam openings having a continuous uninterrupted internal rear foam wall. 
     
     
         11 . The display case of  claim 10 , further comprising one or more mounting holes in the back layer and internal rear foam wall that are each accessible via one of the openings. 
     
     
         12 . The display case of  claim 10 , wherein the internal rear foam wall does not have any openings that might affect its structural support. 
     
     
         13 . The display case of  claim 9 , wherein each of said plurality of openings having a top, bottom, left side and right side that each form a friction fit with the collectible received in the opening. 
     
     
         14 . The display case of  claim 9 , wherein the back layer does not have any openings that might affect its structural support.
