Field Expedient Repair Kit
Abstract
The field expedient repair kit may comprise an inner loadout storage roll and an outer storage system. The kit may store supplies that are intended for the performance of a field expedient task at a remote venue. As non-limiting examples, the field expedient task may be a repair, emergency medical procedure, military mission, or other activity. The kit may optimize space utilization to maximize the quantity of the supplies that may be carried within a given volume and footprint without hindering accessibility of the supplies. The kit may be operable to transport the supplies to the remote venue and be portable such that the kit may be carried by a person. The inner loadout storage roll may detachably couple to the interior of the outer storage system and may be unrolled to provide access to the supplies.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A field expedient repair kit comprising
an inner loadout storage roll and an outer storage system; where the field expedient repair kit stores supplies for the performance of a field expedient repair task at a remote venue; where the field expedient repair kit is operable to transport the supplies to the remote venue; where the inner loadout storage roll detachably couples to the interior of the outer storage system.
2 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 1 where the inner loadout storage roll is a flexible flat rectangular carrier for the supplies and tools; where the supplies and the tools are removably coupled to the inner loadout storage roll; where the inner loadout storage roll is rolled to fit within the outer storage system; where the inner loadout storage roll is held in the rolled configuration by a roll fastener; where the bottom of the inner loadout storage roll detachably couples to the top of a shell base by a coupling fastener.
3 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 2 where the inner loadout storage roll comprises a plurality of obverse storage positions and one or more reverse storage positions; where the plurality of obverse storage positions are on the top side of the inner loadout storage roll when the inner loadout storage roll is rolled out flat; where each of the plurality of obverse storage positions are configured to hold a stored item.
4 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 3 where each of the plurality of obverse storage positions are uniquely designated by indicia that appear on the inner loadout storage roll adjacent to each of the plurality of obverse storage positions; where the indicia comprises a photoluminescent material such that the indicia is viewable in the dark.
5 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 4 where the one or more reverse storage positions are on the bottom of the inner loadout storage roll when the inner loadout storage roll is rolled out flat; where the one or more reverse storage positions are accessible on one or both sides of the inner loadout storage roll when the inner loadout storage roll is rolled up to fit within the outer storage system.
6 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 5 where an individual storage position selected from the plurality of obverse storage positions or the one or more reverse storage positions comprise a pair of retention bands to hold the stored item in place; where the pair of retention bands are elastic straps located on opposing sides of the individual storage position; where the ends of an individual retention band selected from the pair of retention bands are coupled to the inner loadout storage roll such that the individual retention band forms a loop that passes over the stored item.
7 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 6 where end straps are attached to the inner loadout storage roll and to the center of the individual retention band; where the end straps are located on one or both of the individual retention bands; where the end straps prevent the stored item from sliding out of the pair of retention bands.
8 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 7 where the stored item is a storage container; where the supplies are placed inside of the storage container and the storage container is inserted into the pair of retention bands at the individual storage position; where the storage container is a resealable plastic container.
9 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 8 where the storage containers comprise a glow tape bearing matching indicia that correspond to the indicia on the inner loadout storage roll; where the matching indicia indicates which of the individual storage positions the storage container should be returned to after use; where the glow tape comprises a photoluminescent material such that the matching indicia is viewable in the dark.
10 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 9 where the outer storage system forms a shell-like covering around the inner loadout storage roll; where the outer storage system comprises a shell left side flap, a shell right side flap, the shell base, a shell front cover, and a shell rear cover; where the proximal end of the shell left side flap hingedly couples to the left side of the shell base; where the proximal end of the shell right side flap hingedly couples to the right side of the shell base; where the proximal end of the shell front cover hingedly couples to the front of the shell base; where the proximal end of the shell rear cover hingedly couples to the rear of the shell base; where the shell front cover covers the front end of the outer storage system when the shell front cover is pivoted upwards and the shell rear cover covers the rear end of the outer storage system when the shell rear cover is pivoted upwards; where the distal end of the shell front cover extends over the top of the inner loadout storage roll when the shell front cover is pivoted upwards; where the distal end of the shell rear cover extends over the top of the inner loadout storage roll when the shell rear cover is pivoted upwards; where the distal end of the shell front cover and the distal end of the shell rear cover are covered by the shell left side flap and the shell right side flap when the shell left side flap and the shell right side flap are pivoted upwards and coupled using a shell fastener; where the shell front cover and the shell rear cover are retained in an upward position over the inner loadout storage roll by the shell left side flap and the shell right side flap; where the shell left side flap and the shell right side flap pivot upwards and fold over the top of the inner loadout storage roll such that the shell left side flap and the shell right side flap overlap to cover the inner loadout storage roll; where the shell fastener detachably couples the distal end of the shell left side flap with the distal end of the shell right side flap in order to retain the shell left side flap and the shell right side flap in the configuration where the inner loadout storage roll is covered.
11 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 10 where the shell left side flap comprises one or more document pockets; where the one or more document pockets are accessible when the shell left side flap and the shell right side flap are decoupled and separated; where each of the one or more document pockets are operable to hold one or more documents or flat supplies; where the shell right side flap comprises a disposable glove dispenser and storage area; where the disposable glove dispenser and storage area is adapted to dispense disposable gloves; where when the disposable gloves are no longer needed, the disposable gloves is returned to the disposable glove dispenser and storage area for later disposal.
12 . The field expedient repair kit according to claim 1 ,
where the field expedient repair kit is portable and is adapted to be carried by a person; and where the inner loadout storage roll is unrolled to provide access to the supplies.
13 . A system comprising
a device comprising an inner loadout storage roll and an outer storage system; where the inner loadout storage roll is adapted to carry supplies; a user rolling an inner loadout storage roll to fit within the outer storage system; said user emplacing supplies into compartments within said inner loadout storage roll and said outer storage system specific to a pre-established configuration; said user transporting said device to a remote venue to support field service repair activities; said user accessing said supplies through unrolling said outer storage system and detaching said inner loadout storage roll to permit said user to perform one or more activities in service to one or more field expedient repair actions.
14 . The system of claim 13 , further comprising,
said compartments having one or more glow tape bearing matching indicia that correspond to the identity of the item stored within said compartment; where the matching indicia indicates to which of the individual storage positions the storage container should be returned to after use; where the glow tape comprises a photoluminescent material such that the matching indicia is viewable by said user in the dark.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
