Abstract

The subject of the invention is a new and improved formula of preparations for the oral and enteral feeding of children and offspring of mammals, which cannot or should not be fed by the mother, characterized by the fact, that the preparations contain kynurenic acid or its salt at a concentration adapted to its content in the mother's natural milk at different times from delivery.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method for the oral and enteral feeding of a child comprising kynurenic acid or a salt thereof at a concentration corresponding to the concentration of kynurenic acid in the breast milk of the nursing mother being given to the child corresponding to an age of the child. 
     
     
         2 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the child is a human. 
     
     
         3 . The method according to  claim 2 , wherein the child is born before the 35th week of pregnancy. 
     
     
         4 . The method according to  claim 1 , designed for a child aged 2 weeks to 12 months, wherein the concentration of kynurenic acid or a salt thereof is present in an amount of 1.7-14.0 μg/100 ml. 
     
     
         5 . The method according to  claim 1 , designed for a child aged 1-5 days, wherein the concentration of kynurenic acid or a salt thereof is present in an amount of 0.01-0.7 μg/100 ml. 
     
     
         6 . The method according to  claim 1 , designed for a child aged 6-14 days, wherein the concentration of kynurenic acid or a salt thereof is present in an amount of 0.8-1.6 μg/100 ml. 
     
     
         7 . The method according to  claim 1 , designed for a child aged 2-3 weeks, wherein the concentration of kynurenic acid or a salt thereof is present in an amount of 1.7-2.9 μg/100 ml. 
     
     
         8 . The method according to  claim 1 , designed for a child aged 4-12 weeks, wherein the concentration of kynurenic acid or a salt thereof is present in an amount of 3.0-3.9 μg/100 ml. 
     
     
         9 . The method according to  claim 1 , designed for a child aged 4-6 months, wherein the concentration of kynurenic acid or a salt thereof is present in an amount of 4.0-5.0 μg/100 ml. 
     
     
         10 . The method according to  claim 1 , designed for a child aged 7-12 months, wherein the concentration of kynurenic acid or a salt thereof is present in an amount of 5.1-14.0 μg/100 ml.
