Methods and systems for three-dimensional model sharing
Abstract
Examples of the disclosure describe systems and methods for decomposing and sharing 3D models. In an example method, a first version of a virtual three-dimensional model is displayed via a display of a wearable head device. A request is made to a host device for data associated with a second version of the virtual three-dimensional model, wherein the second version of the virtual three-dimensional model comprises a constituent part. It is determined whether the first version of the virtual three-dimensional model comprises the constituent part. In accordance with a determination that the first version of the virtual three-dimensional model does not comprise the constituent part, a request is made to the host device for data associated with the constituent part. The second version of the virtual three-dimensional model is displayed, via the display of the wearable head device. In accordance with a determination that the first version of the virtual three-dimensional model comprises the constituent part, a request is not made to the host device for data associated with the constituent part.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A system comprising:
one or more processors configured to execute a method comprising:
accessing a virtual three-dimensional model stored in a memory;
decomposing the virtual three-dimensional model into constituent parts, wherein the constituent parts comprise mesh data, texture data, or a combination thereof;
determining whether a client computing system is in communication with a host computing system;
in accordance with a determination that the client computing system is in communication with the host computing system, sending, to the client computing system, a library comprising the constituent parts, the library corresponding to the virtual three-dimensional model;
receiving a constituent part request from the client computing system; and
sending one or more of the constituent parts that correspond to the constituent part request to the client computing system,
wherein the client computing system is configured to compose a view of the virtual three-dimensional model based on the one or more of the constituent parts.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system comprises the host computing system.
3 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a head-wearable display system.
4 . The system of claim 1 , the method further comprising storing the one or more of the constituent parts in the memory.
5 . The system of claim 1 , the method further comprising compressing the one or more of the constituent parts.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein a physically integrated device comprises the system and further comprises the client computing system.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the client computing system is in communication with the system comprises:
receiving a connection request from the client computing system; and accepting the connection request from the client computing system.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises:
receiving a library of second constituent parts from the second host computing system, the library of second constituent parts comprising second constituent parts corresponding to a second virtual three-dimensional model, wherein the second constituent parts comprise second mesh data, second texture data, or a combination thereof; determining one or more of the second constituent parts to be included in a second constituent part request based on a comparison of the library of second constituent parts and the library of constituent parts; sending the second constituent part request to the second host computing system; receiving the one or more of the second constituent parts that correspond to the second constituent part request from the second host computing system.
9 . A system comprising:
one or more processors configured to execute a method comprising:
receiving a library of constituent parts from a host computing system, the library of constituent parts comprising constituent parts corresponding to a virtual three-dimensional model, wherein the constituent parts comprise mesh data, texture data, or a combination thereof;
determining one or more parts to be included in a constituent part request based on a comparison of the library of the constituent parts and a client library of constituent parts;
sending the constituent part request to the host computing system;
receiving one or more of the constituent parts that correspond to the constituent part request from the host computing system; and
composing a view of the virtual three-dimensional model based on the received one or more of the constituent parts.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the system comprises a head-wearable display system.
11 . The system of claim 9 , the method further comprising storing the one or more of the constituent parts in a memory.
12 . The system of claim 9 , the method further comprising decompressing the one or more of the constituent parts.
13 . The system of claim 9 , wherein a physically integrated device comprises the system and further comprises the host computing system.
14 . The system of claim 9 , the wherein determining the one or more parts to be included in the constituent part request is further based on a version number associated with the one or more parts.
15 . The system of claim 9 , the method further comprising:
sending a connection request to the host computing system; and connecting to the host computing system in accordance with receiving an indication of an acceptance of the connection request from the host computing system.
16 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the method further comprises:
accessing the virtual three-dimensional model stored in a memory; decomposing the virtual three-dimensional model into second constituent parts, wherein the second constituent parts comprise second mesh data, second texture data, or a combination thereof; determining whether the system is in communication with a client computing system; in accordance with a determination that the system is in communication with the client computing system, sending, to the client computing system, the client library of constituent parts, the client library corresponding to the virtual three-dimensional model; receiving a second constituent part request from the second client computing system; and sending one or more of the second constituent parts that correspond to the second constituent part request to the client computing system, wherein the client computing system is configured to compose a view of the virtual three-dimensional model based on the one or more of the second constituent parts.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
