Abstract

An augmented virtual model of a commercial structure, such as a processing plant and/or a manufacturing plant which includes a virtual design, as built data and experiential measurement data. A User may view the augmented model in a virtual reality setting based with the content presented to the user based upon a location of the user at the time of viewing. Aspects of the Augmented Virtual Model are updated over time and utilized to track performance.

What is claimed is:

. A method of performing an action within a structure, the method comprising;
selecting a two dimensional model of a structure based comprising at least a portion of the structure; specifying a location of an item of equipment within the two dimensional model of the structure: with a digital image capture device, capture a first image of a first position identifier, a second image of a second position identifier and a third position of a third position identifier; using image analysis, identify each of the first position identifier, the second position identifier and the third position identifier; using image analysis, generate a size ratio of each of the first position identifier, the second position identifier and the third position identifier; calculating a position the digital image capture device based upon the identification of the first position identifier, the second position identifier and the third position identifier, and the size ratio of the first position identifier, the second position identifier and the third position identifier; identifying the item of equipment based upon the calculated position of the digital image capture device and the location of the item of equipment in the two dimensional model; performing a data capture routine for the item of equipment; based upon data captured in the data capture routine, generating a deployment performance value for the item of equipment; and generating a user interface comprising a description of the item of equipment and the deployment performance value.

. The method of claim 1 additionally comprising the step of taking an action based upon the deployment performance value for the item of equipment.

. The method of claim 2 additionally comprising the step of determining a utility support for the item of equipment.

. The method of claim 2 wherein the step of taking an action comprises including in the user interface, technical specifications associated with the item of equipment.

. The method of claim 2 additionally comprising the step of, with the digital image capture device, generating an image comprising the item of equipment.

. The method of claim 5 additionally comprising the step of transmitting an instruction to incorporate the generated image into an Augmented Virtual Model comprising the two dimensional model at a virtual position congruent with the position of the item of equipment in the structure.

. The method of claim 6 wherein the step of generating the image comprising the item of equipment is accomplished with a camera incorporated into a smart device.

. The method of claim 7 additionally comprising the step of indicating a distance of interest and a direction of interest from the position of the smart device.

. The method of claim 7 additionally comprising the step of generating a value of experiential data indicating a physical condition within the structure and including an indication of the value of experiential data in the user interface.

. The method of claim 9 wherein the physical condition comprises an indication of an amount of vibration.

. The method of claim 9 wherein the physical condition comprises one or both of a temperature and a humidity present in the structure.

. The method of claim 9 further comprising the steps of: associating a distance of interest and a direction of interest from the position of the digital image capture device with a nomenclature; and displaying the nomenclature on the user interface with a portion of the two dimensional model comprising the position of the item of equipment.

. The method of claim 12 further comprising the steps of: a) providing an index of nomenclatures; associating each nomenclature with a position of the two dimensional model; and b) displaying the nomenclature in the user interface with the two dimensional model.

. The method of claim 13 additionally comprising the steps of: displaying one or more utility support apparatus in the user interface based upon the position of the digital image capture device.

. The method of claim 13 additionally comprising the steps of: capturing data indicating a state of the item of equipment, and including a user interactive area in the user interface, the user interactive area activatable to display the data indicating the state of the item of equipment.

. The method of claim 13 additionally comprising the steps of: displaying in the user interface the value of experiential data, and indicating if the value of experiential data is in compliance with technical specifications for the item of equipment.

. The method of claim 16 additionally comprising the steps of: entering into the user interface data descriptive of an action taken by a technician said action effecting performance of the item of equipment.

. The method of claim 16 additionally comprising the step of indicating in the user interface a change in one or both of: plumbing components and electrical components effecting the item of equipment.
