Reception device, transmission device, and data processing method

Abstract

The present technology relates to a reception device, a transmission device, and a data processing method for easily controlling operation of an application accompanying content.The reception device receives the content and controls activation of the application accompanying the content on the basis of valid period information indicating a period in which the application is valid, thereby to easily control the operation of the application accompanying the content. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a television receiver or the like capable of receiving terrestrial broadcasting.

         21 . A reception device comprising:
 circuitry configured to:
 receive one or more services including an application, the application being associated with one or more files, the one or more files including an entry page, 
 receive metadata associated with the one or more files, the metadata including valid period information and location information, the valid period information including at least one of a first attribute indicating a start time of a period during which the entry page is valid or a second attribute indicating an end time of the period, the location information indicating at least one location of the entry page and a method of delivering the entry page, the indicated method of delivering being at least one of broadcast or broadband, wherein the location information includes at least one of a location of the entry page delivered via broadcast or a location of the entry page delivered via broadband, 
 control caching of the one or more files based on the valid period information, and 
 control activation of the entry page based on the valid period information. 
   
     
     
         22 . The reception device according to  claim 21 , wherein the circuitry is configured to cause the entry page to be activated only within the period indicated by the valid period information. 
     
     
         23 . The reception device according to  claim 21 , wherein the application is configured by the one or more files. 
     
     
         24 . The reception device according to  claim 21 , wherein the circuitry is configured to acquire the one or more files before the start time of the period. 
     
     
         25 . The reception device according to  claim 21 , wherein the metadata includes acquisition information indicating an acquisition source of each of the one or more files. 
     
     
         26 . The reception device according to  claim 25 , wherein the acquisition information includes a list of channel information for the one or more files. 
     
     
         27 . The reception device according to  claim 21 , wherein the metadata includes control information for controlling the application. 
     
     
         28 . The reception device according to  claim 21 , wherein the application is associated with content of the one or more services. 
     
     
         29 . The reception device according to  claim 21 , wherein:
 the circuitry is configured to receive a broadcast stream, and   the metadata is included in service layer signaling of the broadcast stream.   
     
     
         30 . The reception device according to  claim 21 , wherein the location information includes a uniform resource identifier. 
     
     
         31 . A method comprising:
 receiving one or more services including an application, the application being associated with one or more files, the one or more files including an entry page,   receiving metadata associated with the one or more files, the metadata including valid period information and location information, the valid period information including at least one of a first attribute indicating a start time of a period during which the entry page is valid or a second attribute indicating an end time of the period, the location information indicating at least one location of the entry page and a method of delivering the entry page, the indicated method of delivering being at least one of broadcast or broadband, wherein the location information includes at least one of a location of the entry page delivered via broadcast or a location of the entry page delivered via broadband,   controlling caching of the one or more files based on the valid period information, and   controlling activation of the entry page based on the valid period information.   
     
     
         32 . The method according to  claim 31 , wherein the entry page is activated only within the period indicated by the valid period information. 
     
     
         33 . The method according to  claim 31 , wherein the application is configured by the one or more files. 
     
     
         34 . The method according to  claim 31  comprising acquiring the one or more files before the start time of the period. 
     
     
         35 . The method according to  claim 31 , wherein the metadata includes acquisition information indicating an acquisition source of each of the one or more files. 
     
     
         36 . The method according to  claim 35 , wherein the acquisition information includes a list of channel information for the one or more files. 
     
     
         37 . The method according to  claim 31 , wherein the metadata includes control information for controlling the application.

         39 . The method according to  claim 31 , comprising receiving a broadcast stream, wherein the metadata is included in service layer signaling of the broadcast stream.
