Power Allocation at Wireless Network Coverage Edge
Abstract
Concepts and technologies directed to a location management service that facilitates power allocation at a wireless network coverage edge are disclosed. Embodiments can include a system that comprises a processor and a memory that stores computer-executable instructions that configure a processor to perform operations. The operations can include generating a power allocation command directed to a user equipment, where the power allocation command can instruct the user equipment to report a location of the user equipment in response to a trigger event associated with the user equipment. The operations can include providing the power allocation command to the user equipment. The operations can include receiving a reported location of the user equipment, where the reported location can indicate the location of the user equipment at a corresponding time relative to occurrence of the trigger event.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A device comprising:
a processor; and a memory that stores computer-executable instructions that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
detecting an attempt to execute a shut-down routine for powering off the device, wherein the attempt to execute the shut-down routine for powering off the device is in response to a trigger event,
in response to detecting the attempt to execute the shut-down routine for powering off the device, suspending execution of the shut-down routine for powering off the device until after the device attempts to report a location of the device to a network device,
generating location data identifying the location of the device at a time relative to an occurrence of the trigger event, and
providing the location data to the network device.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the trigger event corresponds to at least one of the device approaching a communication coverage edge or the device indicating a power level that is below a power threshold.
3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the location data is provided to the network device in response to determining that the device is within a wireless communication coverage area associated with a wireless communication service.
4 . The device of claim 3 , wherein the operations further comprise in response to determining that the device is outside of the wireless communication coverage area,
delaying providing the location data to the network device; and placing an instruction in the memory of the device to provide the location data to the network device upon a next start-up of the device.
5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise withdrawing suspension of execution of the shut-down routine after providing the location data to the network device.
6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise authorizing a wireless communication service to generate and provide an instance of an emergency final call directed to a target device.
7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving a service alert from the network device; and presenting the service alert via a user interface, wherein the service alert informs a user of the device that the device is approaching a communication coverage edge.
8 . A method comprising:
detecting, by a device comprising a processor, an attempt to execute a shut-down routine for powering off the device, wherein the attempt to execute the shut-down routine for powering off the device is in response to a trigger event; in response to detecting the attempt to execute the shut-down routine for powering off the device, suspending, by the device, execution of the shut-down routine for powering off the device until after the device attempts to report a location of the device to a network device; generating, by the device, location data identifying the location of the device at a time relative to an occurrence of the trigger event; and providing, by the device, the location data to the network device.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the trigger event corresponds to at least one of the device approaching a communication coverage edge or the device indicating a power level that is below a power threshold.
10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the location data is provided to the network device in response to determining that the device is within a wireless communication coverage area associated with a wireless communication service.
11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising in response to determining that the device is outside of the wireless communication coverage area,
delaying providing the location data to the network device; and placing an instruction in a memory of the device to provide the location data to the network device upon a next start-up of the device.
12 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising withdrawing suspension of execution of the shut-down routine after providing the location data to the network device.
13 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising authorizing a wireless communication service to generate and provide an instance of an emergency final call directed to a target device.
14 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
receiving a service alert from the network device; and presenting the service alert via a user interface, wherein the service alert informs a user of the device that the device is approaching a communication coverage edge.
15 . A computer storage medium having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by a processor of a device, causes the processor to perform operations comprising:
detecting an attempt to execute a shut-down routine for powering off the device, wherein the attempt to execute the shut-down routine for powering off the device is in response to a trigger event; in response to detecting the attempt to execute the shut-down routine for powering off the device, suspending execution of the shut-down routine for powering off the device until after the device attempts to report a location of the device to a network device; generating location data identifying the location of the device at a time relative to an occurrence of the trigger event; and providing the location data to the network device.
16 . The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the trigger event corresponds to at least one of the device approaching a communication coverage edge or the device indicating a power level that is below a power threshold.
17 . The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the location data is provided to the network device in response to determining that the device is within a wireless communication coverage area associated with a wireless communication service.
18 . The computer storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise in response to determining that the device is outside of the wireless communication coverage area,
delaying providing the location data to the network device; and placing an instruction in a memory of the device to provide the location data to the network device upon a next start-up of the device.
19 . The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise withdrawing suspension of execution of the shut-down routine after providing the location data to the network device.
20 . The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving a service alert from the network device; and presenting the service alert via a user interface, wherein the service alert informs a user of the device that the device is approaching a communication coverage edge.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
