Abstract
An accessory for an oscillating power tool is provided. The accessory has a functional portion for cutting, sanding, or smoothing an object and an attachment portion that comprises a central opening with longitudinal and/or latitudinal openings extending radially from the central axis and a plurality of secondary openings. The secondary openings are also dispersed around the central axis. The accessory can fit, with no loss of functionality, oscillating power tools' connectors from multiple manufacturers.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An accessory for an oscillating tool comprising:
a functional portion for cutting, sanding, or smoothing an object; and an attachment portion comprising:
a central opening having a central axis;
a first longitudinal opening extending from the central opening along a longitudinal axis of the attachment portion;
a second longitudinal opening extending from the central opening along the longitudinal axis of the attachment portion opposite the first longitudinal opening;
a first latitudinal opening extending from the central opening along a latitudinal axis of the attachment portion;
a second latitudinal opening extending from the central opening along the latitudinal axis of the attachment portion opposite the first latitudinal opening; and
a series of secondary openings disjoined from the central opening and extending to a first radial distance from the central axis,
wherein the attachment portion of the accessory is adapted to mate with an attachment portion of the oscillating tool.
2 . The accessory of claim 1 wherein the longitudinal axis and the latitudinal axis intersect at an angle of 90 degrees at the central axis.
3 . The accessory of claim 1 further comprising: two openings along the latitudinal axis extending to the first radial distance.
4 . The accessory of claim 1 further comprising: an opening along the longitudinal axis extending to the first radial distance.
5 . The accessory of claim 1 wherein the series of secondary openings consists of twelve openings.
6 . The accessory of claim 1 wherein the central opening has a diameter of 10 mm.
7 . The accessory of claim 1 wherein the first radial distance is 25 mm.
8 . The accessory of claim 1 wherein the attachment portion of the accessory is further adapted to mate with the attachment portion of the oscillating tool by receiving at least one drive element through at least one of the longitudinal openings.
9 . The accessory of claim 8 wherein the attachment portion of the accessory is further adapted to mate with the attachment portion of the oscillating tool by receiving at least one drive element through at least one of the secondary openings.
10 . An accessory for a tool comprising:
a functional portion for cutting, sanding, or smoothing an object; and an attachment portion comprising:
a central opening having a central axis;
a first longitudinal opening extending from the central opening along a longitudinal axis of the attachment portion to a first radial distance from the central axis;
a first latitudinal opening extending from the central opening along a latitudinal axis of the attachment portion to the first radial distance;
a second latitudinal opening extending from the central opening along the latitudinal axis of the attachment portion opposite the first latitudinal opening to the first radial distance; and
a series of secondary openings extending to the first radial distance.
11 . The accessory of claim 10 wherein the longitudinal axis and the latitudinal axis intersect at an angle of 90 degrees at the central axis.
12 . The accessory of claim 10 wherein the central opening has a diameter of 10 mm.
13 . The accessory of claim 10 wherein the first radial distance is 25 mm.
14 . The accessory of claim 10 wherein the attachment portion of the accessory is adapted to mate with an attachment portion of the tool by receiving at least one drive element through the first longitudinal opening.
15 . The accessory of claim 10 wherein the attachment portion of the accessory is adapted to mate with an attachment portion of the tool by receiving at least one drive element through at least one of the latitudinal openings.
16 . The accessory of claim 15 wherein the attachment portion of the accessory is further adapted to mate with the attachment portion of the tool by receiving at least one drive element through at least one of the secondary openings.
17 . An accessory for a tool comprising:
a functional portion for cutting, sanding, or smoothing an object; and an attachment portion comprising:
a primary opening defining a rotational axis about which the accessory is designed to oscillate when attached to the tool, the opening having a first extension along a longitudinal axis of the attachment portion, a second extension along a latitudinal axis of the attachment portion, and a third extension extending along the latitudinal axis of the attachment portion;
a set of secondary openings disjoined from the primary opening and extending to a first radial distance from the rotational axis;
wherein the longitudinal axis and the latitudinal axis intersect at an angle of 90 degrees at the rotational axis;
wherein the accessory comprises two openings along the latitudinal axis extending to the first radial distance.
18 . The accessory of claim 17 wherein the first radial distance is 25 mm.
19 . The accessory of claim 17 wherein the series of secondary openings extending to the first radial distance consists of six openings.
20 . The accessory of claim 17 wherein the attachment portion of the accessory is adapted to mate with an attachment portion of the tool by receiving at least one drive element through at least one of the secondary openings.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
