Abstract

A coil device for treating a heart valve includes a wire with a distal end and a proximal end with a cloth configured to promote ingrowth of tissue into the cloth covering at least a portion of the wire. The wire is formed at least partially from a memory metal that is pre-shaped to assume a helical coil shape with a diameter designed to provide a constricting force on a ventricle wall of a heart when the coil device is woven behind tissue features of trabeculae carneae associated with the ventricle wall.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A coil device comprising:
a wire having a distal end and a proximal end; and a cloth covering at least a portion of the wire, the cloth covering being configured to promote ingrowth thereof with biological tissue; wherein the wire comprises memory metal that is pre-shaped to assume a helical coil shape in response to a stimulus, the helical coil shape having a diameter designed to provide a constricting force on a ventricle wall of a heart when the coil device is woven behind a plurality of tissue features of trabeculae carneae associated with the ventricle wall.

2 . The coil device of claim 1 , wherein the stimulus is a thermal stimulus corresponding to a thermal environment internal to the heart.

3 . The coil device of claim 1 , further comprising a locking mechanism configured to lock the coil device in a tightened state.

4 . The coil device of claim 3 , wherein the locking mechanism is configured to couple the distal end of the coil device to the proximal end of the coil device.

5 . The coil device of claim 3 , wherein the locking mechanism comprises a drawstring mechanism including a cord lock component.

6 . The coil device of claim 5 , wherein the cord lock component is coupled to a first portion of the coil device and is configured to receive and secure a second portion of the coil device thereto.
