Abstract

Methods, devices and systems for acquiring information useful to support a patient in implementing and adhering to a medically prescribed therapy plan are provided. The therapy may incorporate biofeedback methods and/or personalized therapy aspects. A method includes steps of receiving, by a receiving device, biometric information associated with an ingestible event marker; analyzing, by a computing device having a microprocessor configured to perform a biometric information analysis, the biometric information; and determining a therapeutic recommendation at least partly on the basis of the analysis and/or integrating biofeedback techniques into patient therapy or activity. A system includes a biometric information module to receive biometric information associated with an ingestible event marker; an analysis module to analyze the biometric information; and a determination module to optionally determine and communicate a therapeutic recommendation at least partly on the basis of the analysis.

         21 . A method for processing biofeedback, the method comprising:
 storing an electronic patient record on a computing device, wherein the electronic patient record comprises a plurality of activities that may be performed by a patient;   detecting physiological data associated with the patient via at least one sensor that is in physical contact with the patient's body, wherein the physiological data includes ingestion data;   transmitting the detected physiological data to the computing device;   determining, via the computing device, that the detected physiological includes an unhealthy physiological data value;   selecting a recommended activity among the plurality of activities to be performed by the patient, wherein the recommended activity is configured to address the unhealthy physiological data value; and   generating an electronic notification of the recommended activity to be performed by the patient.   
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the at least one sensor comprises an ingestible sensor or a skin patch. 
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the plurality of activities comprises: a medicine prescription adjustment, a meditation practice, a relaxation practice, a physical exercise, procedural change, therapy change and a dietary adjustment. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein detecting physiological data comprises detecting a vital parameter of the patient. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 24 , wherein the at least one sensor comprises a heart rate monitor, a blood pressure monitor, a respiration monitor, or a patient skin electrical current conductivity monitor. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the physiological data includes motion data and the at least one sensor includes a motion detector. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the physiological data includes motion data and the at least one sensor includes an accelerometer or a global positioning signal device. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the plurality of activities is associated with at least one of a work task, a physical exercise, a stress inducing event, a hobby, a recreational activity, a meal consumption, a liquid ingestion, or a social interaction. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 21 , further comprising receiving, on the computing device, attestation data comprising at least one attestation associated with a change to a patient activity varying from a patient activity model that models daily activity of the patient. 
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 29 , further comprising:
 correlating, by the computing device, the unhealthy physiological data value to the change to the patient activity associated with the attestation data; and   transmitting, by the computing device, the selected recommended activity to the patient at a future proposed time associated with the correlated changed activity.   
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 21 , further comprising:
 comparing the detected physiological data to the plurality of activities to identify patterns between unhealthy physiological data values and the plurality of activities of the patient;   determining that the patient falls outside of a healthy range based on the physiological data; and   responsive to the determination, transmitting, via the computing device, the recommended activity to the patient.   
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 21 , further comprising:
 comparing the detected physiological data to the plurality of activities to identify a pattern between at least one unhealthy physiological data value and a routine activity of the patient;   determining that the patient is engaging in the routine activity; and   prior to the patient engaging in the identified pattern of the routine activity, transmitting, via the computing device, the recommended activity to the patient.   
     
     
         33 . The method of  claim 32 , wherein the routine activity is a stress-inducing activity. 
     
     
         34 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the at least one sensor comprises a plurality of ingestible event markers (IEMs), wherein each IEM is stably associated with a medication, wherein each IEM is configured to generate ingestion data and wirelessly transmit the ingestion data after contact with bodily fluid of the patient at a target physiological site, and wherein the ingestion data comprises an identification of the medication and a time of the ingestion. 
     
     
         35 . The method of  claim 34 , wherein the electronic record further indicates:
 a prescribed medication of the patient, wherein the prescribed medication is associated with a medication schedule including prescribed times to administer the prescribed medication; and   ingestion data received from one or more than one IEM ingested by the patient, wherein the one or more than one ingested IEM comprises the prescribed medication.   
     
     
         36 . The method of  claim 35 , further comprising:
 determining, based on the physiological data, that the prescribed medication has not been administered at a prescribed time of the medication schedule that has passed; and   transmitting, after a designated time period since the passed prescribed time, a message to remind the patient to administer the prescribed medication.   
     
     
         37 . The method of  claim 36 , further comprising:
 receiving, by the computing device, attestation data comprising at least one attestation associated with an administered medication; and   determining, based on the attestation data, that the prescribed medication has not been administered at the prescribed time of the medication schedule that has passed.   
     
     
         38 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the physiological data further comprises at least one of a heart rate, a blood pressure, a respiration rate, or electrical skin conductivity. 
     
     
         39 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the recommend activity is further selected based at least partly on genetic information descriptive of the patient, the genetic information obtained through one or more genetic tests performed on the patient. 
     
     
         40 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the recommended activity is further selected based at least partly on additional patient information selected from the group consisting of lifestyle data, patient adherence information, behavioral information, emotional information and diagnostic test information.
