Sofa bed

Abstract

A sofa bed has a seat portion, a backrest portion and a hinge mechanism including a first section, a second section and a third section sequentially and pivotably connected. The first section is fixed to a side of the seat portion. The second section is fixed to a side of the backrest portion. A protruding portion is provided at a position where the first section is connected with the second section. Each of the armrest frames is formed with a slideway for receiving and guiding the protruding portion. An end of the third section opposite to the second section is pivotally connected to the armrest. The first section and the second section are be lockable to place the main body frame into a sofa configuration. The sofa bed can be easily switched between sofa and bed positions.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A sofa bed comprising:
 a plurality of main body units, each of the main body units including:
 a unit frame having an inner upper edge formed with a stepped portion; 
 a unit mesh panel comprising a frame configured to be placed on the stepped portion of the unit frame; and 
 a plurality of toggle pieces mounted around the unit frame, the toggle pieces configured to move between a first position where the toggle pieces block a top of the frame to prevent the unit mesh panel from disengaging from the unit frame, and a second position where the toggle pieces leave the top of the frame to allow the unit mesh panel to be removed from the unit frame. 
   
     
     
         2 . The sofa bed according to  claim 1  wherein one or more of the toggle pieces is connected to the unit frame via a pin perpendicular to an overall extension direction of the main body unit and is rotatable about the pin. 
     
     
         3 . The sofa bed according to  claim 1  wherein each of the main body units is formed in a polygonal structure, and the toggle piece is disposed at each corner of the polygonal structure. 
     
     
         4 . The sofa bed according to  claim 1  wherein a sofa bed main body comprises a seat portion and a backrest portion, the seat portion and the backrest portion foldable about a hinge mechanism so that the main body is movable between a bed configuration and a sofa configuration, and the seat portion and the backrest portion each include at least one of the main body units. 
     
     
         5 . The sofa bed according to  claim 4  wherein the seat portion and the backrest portion are each formed into a rectangular structure, a longitudinal edge of the seat portion abuts a longitudinal edge of the backrest portion, and the seat portion and the backrest portion each comprise two main body units. 
     
     
         6 . The sofa bed according to  claim 4  further including an armrest frame disposed on both sides of the sofa bed main body, each armrest frame connected with the main body of the sofa bed through the hinge mechanism; the hinge mechanism is guided by a slideway on each of the armrest frames;
 the sofa bed configured to lock the backrest portion relative to the seat portion at a predetermined angle when the backrest portion and the seat portion pivot relative to each other about the hinge mechanism, the hinge mechanism to moving the main body of the sofa bed via the slideway into a locked state. 
 
     
     
         7 . The sofa bed according to  claim 4  wherein the hinge mechanism comprises:
 a seat portion connecting rod attached to a transverse side edge of the seat portion and extending along the transverse side edge; 
 a backrest portion connecting rod attached to a transverse side edge of the backrest portion on the same side as the transverse side edge of the seat portion and extending along the transverse side edge of the backrest portion; 
 a pivot connecting the seat portion connecting rod with the backrest portion connecting rod such that the backrest portion and the seat portion can pivot relative to each other. 
 
     
     
         8 . The sofa bed according to  claim 4  wherein the sofa bed main body is configured to release locking between the seat portion connecting rod and the backrest portion connecting rod when the seat portion is operated to pivot toward the backrest portion in a locked state. 
     
     
         9 . The sofa bed according to  claim 8  wherein one of the seat portion connecting rod and the backrest portion connecting rod is provided with a ratchet, and the other of the seat portion connecting rod and the backrest portion connecting rod is provided with a pawl, wherein the ratchet and the pawl are engageable with each other so that the backrest portion is locked at a predetermined angle relative to the seat portion.
