Abstract
Methods, systems, and media for presenting suggestions of media content are provided. In some implementations, the method comprises: determining an item of media content; determining a probability of the item of media content being watched at one or more times based on at least one of: a characteristic of a person; a characteristic of a group; and a characteristic of the item of media content; creating a user interface which suggests that the item of media content be watched at one or more times based on the determined probability; and presenting the user interface.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for presenting suggestions of media content, the method comprising:
determining, using a hardware processor, probabilities of a media content item being played back at each of a location of a computing device and at least one predicted future location of the computing device; determining, using the hardware processor, that the computing device is near a media device; and in response to determining that the computing device is near the media device, causing, using the hardware processor, a user interface to be presented at a time that suggests the media content item be played back on the media device based on the determined probabilities, wherein the time also corresponds to when the user device is located at the at least one predicted future location.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a plurality of user interfaces that includes the user interface, wherein the user interface is associated with the time for presenting the user interface on the user device.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising detecting a plurality of devices associated with a communication network on which the user device is connected, wherein each of the plurality of devices is associated with device capability information.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining one of the plurality of devices to present the user interface at the time based on the device capability information.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the probabilities of the media content item being watched at each of the plurality of defined presentation start times are further based on a popularity of the media content item.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the media content item has a plurality of defined presentation start times.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the probabilities include probabilities of the media content item being watched at each of the plurality of defined presentation start times.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the probabilities of the media content item being watched at each of the plurality of defined presentation start times is further based on past viewing preferences of the user of the user device.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising determining a genre of the media content item, wherein the viewing preferences of the user of the user device include times of day the user of the user device has previously viewed media content of the determined genre.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying the media content item based on a current activity being performed on the user device.
11 . A system for presenting suggestions of media content, the system comprising;
a hardware processor that:
determines probabilities of a media content item being played back at each of a location of a computing device and at least one predicted future location of the computing device;
determines that the computing device is near a media device; and
in response to determining that the computing device is near the media device, causes a user interface to be presented at a time that suggests the media content item be played back on the media device based on the determined probabilities, wherein the time also corresponds to when the user device is located at the at least one predicted future location.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the hardware processor also receives a plurality of user interfaces that includes the user interface, wherein the user interface is associated with the time for presenting the user interface on the user device.
13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the hardware processor also detects a plurality of devices associated with a communication network on which the user device is connected, wherein each of the plurality of devices is associated with device capability information.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the hardware processor also determines one of the plurality of devices to present the user interface at the time based on the device capability information.
15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the probabilities of the media content item being watched at each of the plurality of defined presentation start times are further based on a popularity of the media content item.
16 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the media content item has a plurality of defined presentation start times.
17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the probabilities include probabilities of the media content item being watched at each of the plurality of defined presentation start times.
18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the probabilities of the media content item being watched at each of the plurality of defined presentation start times is further based on past viewing preferences of the user of the user device.
19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the hardware processor also determines a genre of the media content item, wherein the viewing preferences of the user of the user device include times of day the user of the user device has previously viewed media content of the determined genre.
20 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the hardware processor also identifies the media content item based on a current activity being performed on the user device.
21 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for presenting suggestions of media content, the method comprising:
determining, using a hardware processor, probabilities of a media content item being played back at each of a location of a computing device and at least one predicted future location of the computing device; determining, using the hardware processor, that the computing device is near a media device; and in response to determining that the computing device is near the media device, causing, using the hardware processor, a user interface to be presented at a time that suggests the media content item be played back on the media device based on the determined probabilities, wherein the time also corresponds to when the user device is located at the at least one predicted future location.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
