Abstract

Systems and methods for maximizing resource credits across cloud infrastructure are disclosed herein. An example apparatus comprises: at least one memory; instructions; and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to: transmit a request for information associated with a workload executing on a cloud resource to an application programming interface associated with the cloud resource; identify the cloud resource as underutilized based on a change in an infrastructure usage pattern associated with the workload; compute an expected demand for the cloud resource based on a report of activity associated with the workload; and reconfigure the cloud resource to reduce a monetary cost associated with the workload.

What is claimed is:

         1 . An apparatus comprising:
at least one memory; instructions; and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to at least: transmit a request for information associated with a workload executing on a cloud resource to an application programming interface associated with the cloud resource; identify the cloud resource as underutilized based on a change in an infrastructure usage pattern associated with the workload; compute an expected demand for the cloud resource based on a report of activity associated with the workload; and reconfigure the cloud resource to reduce a monetary cost associated with the workload.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the cloud resource is a hybrid cloud resource that includes a private cloud resource and a public cloud resource.

3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to execute the instructions to modify the workload to comply with an infrastructure pricing model associated with the cloud resource.

4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein to reduce the monetary cost associated with the workload, the processor circuitry is to execute the instructions to compare a first pricing model of a first cloud service provider to a second pricing model of a second cloud service provider.

5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the infrastructure usage pattern is based on an infrastructure availability zone, an infrastructure location, an infrastructure server class, or an infrastructure server size.

6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to execute the instructions to maintain an inventory of prepaid reservations for the cloud resource.

7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to execute the instructions to generate a histogram of activity data based on the report of activity.

8 . A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions which, when executed, cause processor circuitry to:
transmit a request for information associated with a workload executing on a cloud resource to an application programming interface associated with the cloud resource; identify the cloud resource as underutilized based on a change in an infrastructure usage pattern associated with the workload; compute an expected demand for the cloud resource based on a report of activity associated with the workload; and reconfigure the cloud resource to reduce a monetary cost associated with the workload.

9 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the cloud resource is a hybrid cloud resource that includes a private cloud resource and a public cloud resource.

10 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor circuitry to modify the workload to comply with an infrastructure pricing model associated with the cloud resource.

11 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor circuitry to reduce the monetary cost associated with the workload by comparing a first pricing model of a first cloud service provider to a second pricing model of a second cloud service provider.

12 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the infrastructure usage pattern is based on an infrastructure availability zone, an infrastructure location, an infrastructure server class, or an infrastructure server size.

13 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor circuitry to maintain an inventory of prepaid reservations for the cloud resource.

14 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor circuitry generate a histogram of activity data based on the report of activity.

         15 . An method comprising:
transmitting, by executing an instruction with processor circuitry, a request for information associated with a workload executing on a cloud resource to an application programming interface associated with the cloud resource; identifying, by executing an instruction with the processor circuitry, the cloud resource as underutilized based on a change in an infrastructure usage pattern associated with the workload; computing, by executing an instruction with the processor circuitry, an expected demand for the cloud resource based on a report of activity associated with the workload; and reconfiguring, by executing an instruction with the processor circuitry, the cloud resource to reduce a monetary cost associated with the workload.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the cloud resource is a hybrid cloud resource that includes a private cloud resource and a public cloud resource.

17 . The method of claim 15 , further including modifying the workload to comply with an infrastructure pricing model associated with the cloud resource.

18 . The method of claim 15 , further including comparing a first pricing model of a first cloud service provider to a second pricing model of a second cloud service provider.

19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the infrastructure usage pattern is based on an infrastructure availability zone, an infrastructure location, an infrastructure server class, or an infrastructure server size.

20 . The method of claim 15 , further including maintaining an inventory of prepaid reservations for the cloud resource.

21 . The method of claim 15 , further including generating a histogram of activity data based on the report of activity.
