Door Hinge Mount Exercise Anchor
Abstract
An exercise anchor for elastic bands or other exercise implements that mounts to a standard door hinge. The exercise anchor allows for an easy, secure, and unobtrusive mounting to a door hinge through the hinge pin, or with a hinge pin integrated into the exercise anchor. It may also be provided as a kit with a variety of specialized hinge pins to provide extra support or to adapt a single exercise anchor to hinges that require hinge pins of differing shaft diameters or differing lengths. The exercise anchor may be mounted without the need to modify or drill into walls or fixtures, and may include features for added security and to prevent inadvertent pull-out of the anchor, such as anchor braces, bump stops, and hinge captures. The exercise anchor may also include a variety of band capture shapes, geometries, or arrangements allowing use versatility when engaging in various exercises.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedI claim:
1 . An exercise anchor comprising:
a base comprising a first end and a second end; a band catch comprising a base end and a free end, said base end in communication with said first end of said base; and a hinge pin aperture passing through said base in proximity to said second end of said base; wherein said free end of said band catch is positioned about said base to define a band catch aperture disposed between said band catch and said base.
2 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , wherein said band catch comprises a hook of smooth curvature and wherein said free end of said band catch is disposed above said base.
3 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , further comprising a countersink about said hinge pin aperture, said countersink adapted to fit a head of a hinge pin such that said head of said hinge pin is flush with the surface of said base about said hinge pin aperture.
4 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , wherein said base comprises one or more planar sections to interface with a hinge or hinge pin head.
5 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , wherein said band catch comprises a cross section having a perimeter comprising a smooth curvature.
6 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , further comprising:
a hinge pin comprising an upper end and a lower end; and a lower cap lock; wherein said lower cap lock is in communication with said lower end of said hinge pin to retain said hinge pin in a hinge plate.
7 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , further comprising:
one or more lateral extensions having a first end and a second end in communication with said base of said exercise anchor; wherein said one or more lateral extensions of said base protrude farther from said base at said first end than at said second end.
8 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , further comprising:
one or more additional band catches, each of said one or more additional band catches comprising a secondary base end and a secondary free end, each of said secondary base ends in communication with said first end of said base; wherein each of said one or more additional band catches are offset from said band catch about a central axis of said base and each of said secondary free ends of each of said one or more additional band catches are positioned about said base to define one or more secondary band catch apertures disposed between said secondary free ends and said base.
9 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , further comprising:
an upper surface of said base and a lower surface of said base; a lower anchor brace in communication with said lower surface of said base; and said lower anchor brace configured with a lower radius adapted to engage at least one knuckle of a hinge leaf to support said exercise anchor under load.
10 . The exercise anchor of claim 1 , further comprising:
a hinge pin comprising a shaft having an upper end and a lower end, and a threaded portion proximate said upper end of said shaft; and wherein said hinge pin aperture comprises a complementary thread internal to said hinge pin aperture such that said threaded portion of said upper end of said shaft may mate with said complementary thread of said hinge pin aperture to removably affix said hinge pin into said hinge pin aperture.
11 . An exercise anchor comprising:
a base comprising a first end and a second end; a band catch comprising a base end and a free end, said base end in communication with said first end of said base; and an anchor extension in communication with said second end of said base; wherein said free end of said band catch is positioned about said base to define a band catch aperture disposed between said band catch and said base.
12 . The exercise anchor of claim 11 , wherein said anchor extension comprises an integrated hinge pin;
said integrated hinge pin further comprising an upper end and a lower end, said upper end of said integrated hinge pin in communication with said base.
13 . The exercise anchor of claim 12 , further comprising a lower cap lock in communication with said lower end of said integrated hinge pin to retain said hinge pin in a hinge plate.
14 . The exercise anchor of claim 11 , further comprising:
a spring bar disposed between said anchor base extension and said base; a first indexed mating surface on said base; and a second indexed mating surface on said anchor extension; wherein said base may rotate about a central axis relative to said anchor extension and wherein said spring bar may retain said first indexed mating surface in a moveably fixed position relative to said second indexed mating surface.
15 . An exercise anchor comprising:
a base comprising a first end and a second end; a band catch comprising a base end and a free end, said base end in communication with said first end of said base; a hinge connection feature in communication with said second end of said base; and a hinge capture comprising a hinge capture upper end and a hinge capture lower end, said hinge capture upper end in communication with said second end of said base and said hinge capture lower end in communication with a hinge capture flange; wherein said hinge capture flange is configured to engage with a lower end of a hinge to secure said exercise anchor to the hinge and prevent pull out of said exercise anchor from the hinge.
16 . The exercise anchor of claim 15 , wherein said hinge connection feature comprises a hinge pin aperture.
17 . The exercise anchor of claim 15 , wherein said hinge connection feature comprises an integrated hinge pin.
18 . The exercise anchor of claim 15 , wherein said hinge capture comprises a flexible cantilevered bar.
19 . The exercise anchor of claim 15 , further comprising:
a pivot; and a retraction spring; wherein said hinge capture upper end is in communication with said second end of said base through said pivot and said retraction spring in communication with said second end of said base and said hinge capture upper end and provides a return force between said base and said hinge capture when said hinge capture rotates about said pivot away from said base.
20 . The exercise anchor of claim 15 , wherein said hinge capture comprises an upper hinge capture and a lower hinge capture, said upper hinge capture in communication with said lower hinge capture via a telescopic joint.
21 . The exercise anchor of claim 20 , further comprising a set screw, wherein said set screw maintains a relative position between said upper hinge capture and said lower hinge capture.
22 . The exercise anchor of claim 20 , further comprising a retraction spring, wherein said retraction spring provides a return force between said upper hinge capture and said lower hinge capture when said lower hinge capture is extended away from said upper hinge capture through said telescopic joint.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
