Non-invasive blood pressure measurement system
Abstract
A system for non-invasively determining an indication of an individual's blood pressure is described. In certain embodiments, the system calculates pulse wave transit time using two acoustic sensors. The system can include a first acoustic sensor configured to monitor heart sounds of the patient corresponding to ventricular systole and diastole and a second acoustic sensor configured to monitor arterial pulse sounds at an arterial location remote from the heart. The system can advantageously calculate a arterial pulse wave transit time (PWTT) that does not include the pre-ejection period time delay. In certain embodiments, the system further includes a processor that calculates the arterial PWTT obtained from the acoustic sensors. The system can use this arterial PWTT to determine whether to trigger an occlusive cuff measurement.

34 . A method of reducing blood pressure cuff measurements, the method comprising:
estimating a blood pressure measurement from a plurality of non-invasive sensors; determining that the estimated blood pressure change satisfies a condition; and triggering a blood pressure cuff measurement based on the determination.
35 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the plurality of non-invasive sensors comprise a pulse oximeter and an electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors.
36 . The method of claim 35 , wherein the plurality of non-invasive sensors further comprise an acoustic sensor.
37 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the condition comprises exceeding a threshold blood pressure change value.
38 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the condition is based on patient-specific factors.
39 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the determination is further based on heart rate measurements.
40 . The method of claim 34 , further comprising using an adaptive filter for the estimations of the blood pressure measurement.
41 . A system of reducing blood pressure cuff measurements, the system comprising one or more hardware processors configured to:
estimate a blood pressure measurement from a plurality of non-invasive sensors; determine that the estimated blood pressure change satisfies a condition; and trigger a blood pressure cuff measurement based on the determination.
42 . The system of claim 41 , wherein the plurality of non-invasive sensors comprise a pulse oximeter and an electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors.
43 . The system of claim 42 , wherein the plurality of non-invasive sensors further comprise an acoustic sensor.
44 . The system of claim 41 , wherein the condition comprises exceeding a threshold blood pressure change value.
45 . The system of claim 41 , wherein the condition is based on patient-specific factors.
46 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the determination is further based on heart rate measurements.
